To be honest Xenforo isn't as good as they said it would be...

I went ahead and purchased a license and while it is a good software it seems to be less complex than phpBB and MyBB are.

Oh well I'm stuck with it until goodness knows when I can transfer it to someone else.

Anyway that's just my views.

Do you like the software?

Its okay, a bit to minimalist for my taste. You'd think a basic software like Xenforo would be free. But Ive seen some good XF boards that have been heavily modified in a good way and have lots of fun mods/plugins installed.

I am over my paid software days. I've used vBulletin and IPB (both here on Off Topix) and now I'm happy to be using MyBB, mainly because I dont have to pay software renewal fees anymore, but also because its very user friendly and has all the mods/plugins we could ever need!

I went with Xenforo mostly because of wanting to try something new. I've used phpBB and MyBB countless times over the years and quite frankly getting annoyed with same old same old.

But XF seems to be a complete waste of money. For the reasons you stated.

I tried to do the myBB, but could not for some reason get it to work.

I have liked the looks of the Xenforo lately. Seems to be real easy to use.

Did you have all the permissions / chmod'ing correct?

vBulletin's a one-off fee now, unless they bring out a new version (vBulletin 6, for example). One of the reasons why I decided to get it; originally it was like an annual subscription which put me right off.

That's a pricey way to do business. People who want to have the most up-to-date vB software will have to spend $200+ every time they come out with a new version.

How much are you willing to let it go for FB92? Just wondering if I should play around with it, but I'm on a budget though.

I don't think so. I'm still going through some of the things to get it to work right. I'll figure it out. I've been busy with all kinds of different things. I just need to concentrate on one thing at a time.

School is done for the next two months for me, so I can work on things I want for while. :):coffee:

Well I managed to sell my license.

Now I'm working with Joomla. ;o

The new versions of Joomla aren't crap like the old ones were.

I can't do business with IPB anymore. Too many refund requests for their hosted version. Lol

I didn't like how IPB charged me $20 to transfer my license to someone else. I dont remember vB charging me for that when I sold that license. :|

I didn't think that IPB charges people. They must of tried to scam you.

They do: http://community.invisionpower.com/topic/384880-transferring-licences/

Yeah its automatically done by the software, why do they need to charge a fee as if there is work required?
