A shocking number of women are asking the same question. In a single day in January, 22 serious sexual assaults were reported in Tahrir Square.

...

If you are here and you see a girl dressed in an indecent way, what are you going to do? You can't help it.

So said one of a group of young Egyptian men, hanging around close to the square, when we asked about the increase in sexual assaults against women there.

That's the lamest excuse ever. A woman should be able to walk up and down a hallway full of people - naked - and not have to worry if she's going to get raped, attacked, murdered, or anything else. Don't look too into that, it's just an example.

It's never the woman's fault and our society should not be victimising women for their attacker's deeds.

You are trying to put Western values and ideals onto another society.

Under Sharia, females have no rights.

They are considered the property of their husband, or their father, brother, or other available male relative.

Remember, it is under Sharia where the female victim of a rape was stoned for having sex outside of marriage and the rapist walked free.

This Is Sharia.

get used to it

If that's all the self control they can muster, we should pity these men. Pity them in the same way one might pity a horse with a broken leg.

that doesn't make it right.
But what is wrong and what is right? Morals are hardly universal. I'm sure you wouldn't agree with human sacrifice (you know, to one deity or another), in some cultures it was an honour.

It's accepted in Sharia, that doesn't make it right.

To us it is wrong. To them it is right. To them, treating women as equals is wrong. It's a totally different culture, and although I find it abhorrent, it is their culture, not ours.

Hmm, bad example. It's a bit too twisted.

All right, how's this? They don't go around stealing everything they want. Therefore they are capable of self restraint. The only problem being that theft is punished and rape isn't.

Theft is punished, often without a trial or even any evidence.

Mr Moutkel was accused of having stolen a mattress.

No evidence was ever brought against him, but the people are too shocked by the brutality and the barbaric act to even discuss the allegation.

WARNING: the article may upset more sensitive readers.

I have the feeling the more our various cultures intermix, the more likely those who are being oppressed by their culture and upbringing are going to start demanding things that other cultures offer.

I really doubt those who abhor such mentalities are going to just accept what other people do to their own that they see as abhorrent. You could make the claim that you should respect a culture, religion, etc. regardless if you agree with it or not but I don't see anyone pushing that idea when faced with cults.

IF any of those men wants help with their self control in regards to sex then all they need is someone with a knife and five minutes and we can solve all their problems.

Let's just see how hard it truly is to control themselves when faced with that. lol

I think we need to eventually come to the conclusion that there is something called HUMAN rights which supersedes all other things and once we face those for what they are then a lot of this abhorrent behavior will cease with or without assistance.

The problem is that there will not be any 'mixing'.

In Western culture, tolerance of other ways and religion is the order of the day. We are told to accept homosexuals, those of other religions, conservatives, liberals, socialists.... whatever. They are part of Our society.

Now I ask you.

Can you say the same about Sharia?

So you think these countries can do what North Korea can't?

They'd have to try really, really, really hard to keep everyone out then.
