Yesterday, we put up a tech demo of the engine being used to generate what is frighteningly close to photo-realistic video game graphics. This is the trailer for the game based on that engine. Although it's easier to pick apart when you're looking at human faces, pretty much everything else is hard to separate from reality.

Your thoughts?

Wow.

Wonder what platform the game's going to be on. The game concept sounds interesting too.

The title is a little misleading. Firstly, the video is part live-action (ie: real people) and part graphics engine. Secondly, it is pre-rendered, meaning that it isn't happening as-you-go in real time like a game and also isn't happening while other calculations are being made, like AI movements, which you would get in a game. It doesn't represent what you can do in the game using the engine just yet and I suspect trying to run that alongside a game you'd need some crazy-optimised code and some really expensive hardware.

So yeah, don't get too excited yet.

In the mean time, have a look at the graphics engines in Unreal Engine 4 and Square Enix's new engine, as they both look pretty smexy and actually represent what it would look like in-game.
