Should kids of any age be able to buy birth control or should they have parental consent?

I don't really think so. Imagine what it'll be like for the kid going to ask their parent if they can go buy some birth control products.

But then again, that could be a big stopper in teenage pregnancy.

It's up to the parents. If I was a parent and you gave my daughter birth control, I'd chew you out.

Instead of handing out birth control to young children so they're acceptable to disease, improve on sex education. Throughout school, we've never been taught much about sex. Yeah, you're told about AIDs and STDs, but you're not warned enough about disease and teen pregnancy.

Improving their education won't stop them. Not all of them anyway...

If a teen wants to have sex than they will no matter what, might as well let them get their own protection on their own, right?

Right.

My parents had a talk with me and it has stopped me from even starting. Just this year, a lot of my friends have been having sex, but I've made the decision that I'm going to wait, because it's too risky and I'm not ready to become a parent, and won't be for many, many years. Saying kids will do it anyways is rubbish. Kids will do it if they're not told about the disease and consequences, but if you warn them about all the risks and avoidable trouble, doubt they'd start doing it either. If you get pregnant, and unless you have an abortion, which I'm against, but that's another debate, you're throwing your future away. And don't tell me birth control stops all pregnancies, because it doesn't. Plus, birth control doesn't stop disease, so if the guy doesn't use a condom, you're potentially at risk for disease, and unless your parents know you're on birth control, you'll never know if your daughter has had sex and/or if she has a disease.

It's no different from giving a kid gloves to commit a crime if you already know he's going to rob a bank. See, my parents taught me right from wrong, and I've been taught to obey them, unlike some parents who freely hand out birth control to their kids. Now, I'm not necessarily opposed to birth control, because if you're that rebellious and you're having sex no matter what, then yes, you're a good candidate for birth control, but that's under different circumstances.

Condoms are a form of birth control, Jughead.

Maybe where you live. Birth control is for women here, pills, and condoms are for men, which aren't referred to as birth control, but if you take from the context, birth and control, I assume you could play with the words and say it is a form of safe sex. Birth control is medication that helps to prevent the risks of pregnancy, while condoms do the same thing, but condoms can break and birth control would have to do it's job in that case, but if a condom breaks, then you're still acceptable to STD's from direct contact.

If you're referring to female condoms, then that's a different method, but still has its risks. However, I believe the debate is over the medical birth control that's given to females to reduce the risks of pregnancy.

you know those dolls that are like babies? they scream at you when you do something wrong and they have a microchip that'll rat you out it you throw it against the wall? give this to the kids. that's the best form of birth control. let kids see what babies are like and it'll scare the hell out of them.
