Trading Yu-Gi-Oh cards on an old vBulletin forum by the name of Yu-Gi-Oh Realms. Was my main hangout pad back in the day until I found InvisionFree.

first forum I joined up at was a forum that helped kids understand the news.

it only ran a few hours a day- from I think 4:00 when the kids got out of school until about 8. it was moderated by a team and they had to approve every post by the members to make sure it was safe for kids to read

when I got too old to post there I started posting on purple ribbon, which was a forum for abuse survivors- and after purple ribbon, a forum for fans of dinosaurs. yes, I don't know either- but it was home. lol

I remember always being targeted on forums because I was an eleven-year-old and everyone was absolutely convinced I was a spammer. Truth is, I really was that stupid.

The first forum I ever joined was an old anime community. They weren't that active but I did have fun with some of the members. I spent a few years on there before I decided to explore other communities.

The first forum I ever joined was Glitch City Labs, which was a forum dedicated to documenting the various glitches in the generation 1 Pokemon games. I remember I was a complete noob and didn't have proper forum etiquette so I'm surprised I wasn't banned lol. I just cringe every time I think of my old username I used on there. :V

I know what you mean. I was super young when I first found forums and I managed to get myself banned many times. My first forum was a Pakistan cricket forum. I loved watching cricket back then and I found out about a forum my older brother used. The rest is history!

Earliest memory was using phpBB. Not sure what the forum was about. I remember finding a free phpBB host and making my own for fun.

I know what you mean. I was super young when I first found forums and I managed to get myself banned many times. My first forum was a Pakistan cricket forum. I loved watching cricket back then and I found out about a forum my older brother used. The rest is history!

In what way did you lack forum etiquette? Constantly going off topic? If so I get that, even now I have a tendency to derail threads which the lovely @Nebulous thrives on 🎶

I forgot my password and ended up making about 3 or 4 different accounts on Glitch City for one thing lol. I also went on a bit of a tangent whenever someone would badmouth Sonic lol. I also didn't know how to quote posts properly, though it was way worse on Titansgo.net. I almost did get banned on that forum, and I didn't find out until the board was reuploaded in a read only mode and the admins allowed everyone to see the staff lounge. I kept going off topic and made a very questionable thread once. The admins changed my avatar too after I made that thread to troll me.

If I remember correctly, I remember you quoting the staff discussing banning you, which you saw when a site was uploaded into a read only archive ?

Yep lol, I made a thread about how I didn't like rap music or Akon's music so I was called a racist and the staff changed my avatar. Though I probably shouldn't have called the thread "Stupid Akon". My father gave me the idea, I was 16 at the time. :V There were other times where I made the same thread twice after the first one was locked, and the moderator who locked it warned me that if I did it again I would be banned. They were talking about me in the staff lounge after I made the Akon thread.

If you don't mind me asking what was the name of that Anime Community?

As for me, it was back in 2001 that I joined an anime community that is still big to this day. and I haven't stopped since. After that experience, I wanted to run my own, so that is when I got into running my own community!

Seems to happen a lot. These days you can offend someone for having a wildly different viewpoint and any difference is considered trolling. That’s just the internets.
