Is your staff active on your forum or do they just sit by the sidelines watching?

Also, do you let your members know up-front who's a staff member? I ask this second question because on one forum I'm a member of no one has a title and I have no clue who is staff and who isn't.

Weird. I don't think I have ever joined a forum like that.

I, too, prefer to know who the admins and mods are so that if I ever need support in any shape or form, that person is always there when I need them. I don't want to send a PM or email to someone only to say, I don't own this forum; you should talk to so-and-so as he/she is in charge here.

Like most boards, we do have a legend explaining who's all on staff and things like that.

For the most part, we have titles to signify who we are. And the main admin himself does not come on much due to how busy he is with the main site and his family life. And the other admin usually only comes on for when I have requested something to be done. So its usually just me and my Global Mod.

Yeah, on my forum it's just me and a co-administrator who does the technical end of things, we might start the hunt for staff in the future if the board gets busy enough.

Staff here is active.. I have been less active here than normal but that is out of my control. Hopefully I wont get voted off in the next tribal council.

Anyway, as long as staff are at least attempting to put in an effort to help out then thats all that matters to me.

My current staff isnt AS active due to school and I let my member know.

i dont own a forum but every other forum i have been on or am a member of, cept for the one jazzy has mentioned, has had some kind of title next to the mods name.....something like mod or admin or janitor or the like...............the one jazzy mentioned is kinda confusing, i once asked the question of 'how do i know who the mods are?'.....i was just told that there was a thread somewhere that listed them!

on the forum i frequent the most they all have a fancy 'moderator' badge in their profile thingy .....

.....most are active posters....all frequent the place regulary even if they dont post much

Whenever I was just starting out with running forums and things such as that I'd seemingly give a staff position to anybody that would give my website the time of day which is honestly probably one of the reasons that they garnered the success that they did only it wasn't a very good experience because a majority of the member base was staff. However, now I have grown to the point where I am excruciatingly critical as to who I choose to place within my staff team, actually if I want to get technical I am not currently running a forum but whatever.
