Years ago it use to be easy to get a online community active but now it’s a struggle and unfortunately takes time if you’re lucky

Does everyone think forums will make a comeback?

They’re not completely dead so I think there’s a chance and I’m not giving my one up over something like Facebook just because people think and I say think it’s better then traditional forums.

Unfortunately social media forever ruined forums, because forum etiquette disappeared when social media took over, and so many of the youngsters joining forums now were raised on social media "etiquette" where anything goes and you just need to say and do whatever you can to get attention. Until that goes away, it's sadly going to forever hold forums back from being what they once were.

The human race is truly disgusting to be honest, everything is about slander or attention these days and since forums are informative they’re basically rendered useless by society.

Sadly no, but might be a good thing? Everyone had a forum back in the day to the point it became a forest in a sense. I think this will help narrow down better forums but its not good for anyone starting out.

@Fait I agree that the human race leaves a lot to be desired. Social Media tends to be one sided & if you don't agree, you are berated & kicked off.
Forums are not as popular as they once were. I don't know why as forums are friendlier in my opinion. Posts don't get lost in the shuffle & boards can be organized.
I had a forum 15 some years ago & the difference between then & now, my members didn't have their own forum, site, or blog. Now, people help each other out but there's a lot of burnout.
Funny story, last year when I told my husband I thought of creating another forum, he said: They still have those? lol

You’re so correct about that!! You only have to go to the news pages on Facebook to see that, All one sided hate and nothing more, they’re like sheep robots!

And that’s funny too, because I try to talk to a Gen Z’er about my forum and they was like ‘what’s a forum?’ Then I explain then they say so it’s like Reddit?

Like technically they’re half correct but not 100%.

Your husband's little reply kills me a bit :(

Forums need a lot of budget to survive. We need to market it to a lot of people. Good content cannot bring good traffic by itself.

That’s why I’ve turned to ads so early just to make sure this site will survive.

And I’m not that good when it comes to marketing honestly.

A budget makes it easier and quicker, but not required, if you got the time to put into it.

there’s shared hosting out there for $2AUD so starting up it’s definitely not required even some VPS plans are pretty cheap these days,

good to see the prices are down a bit because it makes it financially easy.

Yeah, that's very correct. It's biggest challenge that faces all forums, without the big budget, it's definitely going to be very difficult for its survival.

it's sad. I only use TikTok for astrology content it's not worth anything else, as for Facebook well that's getting boring yet humanity keeps using these weird platforms only because everyone else does..

I don't believe that forums will ever return to their former glory.
This belief will always bum me out.

I do miss the days that forums were booming. There are a number of forums I'm part of that are quite active, but they've been around for years. I know a few that made the switch to a Discord server, which really sucked IMO. Social media were the first killers of forums, but now Discord tends to take up more activity than any other platform...

I feel like this forum in particular is reliving it's glory days. We're doing better than I expected. So happy all you wonderful peeps are here! :grouphug:
