Seriously. The moment gas prices rose, it was supposedly Biden's fault. I'm not trying to vouch for any one president or a republican or a democrat. Doesn't matter. The bottom line is a lot of citizens in this country do not fully understand who is in control of price fluctuations like these. We paid about $6 a gallon here in Oregon for a very short time. It was mostly around $5.40-$5.80 for a while, but now it's slowly creeping back down. I just paid $3.50 a gallon yesterday, and I know Biden wasn't entirely responsible for that. Some people are just pointing the finger at the wrong person and that's what politicians want. They want us to keep at each other's throats, they want the spotlight off them, and they want their constituents to continue to lack knowledge of how this country really works.

I remember paying $7.50 a gallon not too long ago.

Lately its been around $4.15

I saw $3.79 in the hood the other day and I was shocked, had to pull over and get some gas even though I had to keep my head on a swivel

...but yeah its not up to the president. He does have the power to provide relief but that doesn't do much for states like California that have their own gas taxes added on to make our gas way more than everyone elses.

Prices in California are just insanity at times! Glad they're coming back down a little bit. We're at $3.79 here in AZ mostly, so you're not too far off.

Yeah they are but its all I've ever known so I suppose I have nothing to compare to. Also we get paid higher wages so I suppose it evens out. For example a janitor at a hospital here can make like $30 an hour, meanwhile someone doing the same exact hospital janitor job in Arkansas is making $9.50 an hour.

Yeah, that part is nice. Maybe do what some people around here do, save up, buy a small plane and fly in every day to work, avoid paying the high prices and fly back home. We get people that live in Flagstaff, fly down to Phoenix for the day, then fly right on back at night. They make Phoenix money and live on Flagstaff prices. Suppose if you're really looking to save in CA, that's an option, too!

Thats crazy!

....but I am not really looking to save in CA. I do alright. My job is like 6 miles away. I can leave my house at 5:50am and be there on time at 6am. :D ...maybe even be a minute or two early.

Yeah, we have a small airport near us (Deer Valley Airport or Deer Valley International Airport, lol), and you'll see little planes landing all the time, people hopping out, getting in their cars and going to work, coming back and taking off again. It's working for them quite well apparently, lol.

Good! Living comfortably is all we can ask for these days :)

Sounds nice in theory but if they spend all their time traveling and working, then the home life suffers.

I'd probably be depressed if I had to commute to an airport, then fly somewhere, land, then commute to my work place after that. Work all day long then have to do it all over again just to get home.

FML :P

I guess they also like the flying part? True, though, I suppose that would get annoying after a while. Then again, you're in the air and basically by yourself...must be nice!

If I had a good job in another city, I'd just live there. I don't need a mansion in a lower-cost-of-living town. I'll take a nice apartment close to my work place any day. I value my time more than my surroundings.

Pretty much the same here, but you'll see people doing all sorts of things to save money and live "better."

Yeah a few of my coworkers live like 45+ minutes away because my particular city has gotten expensive for renters. If I was still renting I'd be in the same boat.

However if I couldn't afford to live in this city any more, it would only be a matter of time before I switched jobs after relocating. I hate being stuck in traffic, and we have the worst traffic! It takes like 3 hours to move 3 feet sometimes. :faint: (I am exaggerating, but not really)

Yeah, I remember SoCal traffic, absolutely insane!!

Its because everything (freeways, infrastructure, etc) was built in the 50's and 60's. We're still operating on a system that cannot handle the amount of people we have here now. Every street needs 2 lanes added to it and every freeway needs 10 lanes added to it. Then we'd be fine. :D

VERY true!! Those freeway interchanges...ugh. Pack a lunch, you're going to be there for a while!
