For me it's really hard to beat just plain ol' spaghetti + marinara sauce. Also impossible to equal Rao's as a 'base'; but I like to add sautéed onions, celery & jalapeño or poblano pepper. Usually with meatballs or crumbled ground beef.
Nothing beats, on those chilly evenings in winter, a good plate of penne arribiata...

Sometimes the most simple is the best .
Arrabbiata sauce is great, but I also enjoy simple tomato-based options like Pomodoro, Napoletana, and Marinara

For pasta, I like so many types that it's hard for me to pick just one. I wanted to see what everyone else likes. Regarding the photo I added in the first post, Ditalini is a favourite of mine, especially for soups. That dish is kind of like a thick soup.
