  1. Arsenic levels in rice...

It's shocking when news stories come out about the dangers of eating food that we would naturally assume to be healthy. Were those arsenic levels found in rice from any particular country?
  2. 13 of the most unusual phobias

Having some of those phobias must make life very difficult, imagine what your life would be like if you were afraid of going asleep. I met a kid once who had "Coulrophobia – fear of clowns", it's surprising that someone would be afraid of something that most people get a great laugh out of.
  3. Translation table explaining the truth behind British politeness

    Very funny and very true :) The one I like best is;
  4. London's "fryscraper" melts cars

I remember walking past buildings during the evenings in a hot summer in London, you could feel the heat coming off the buildings, especially red bricked ones. Thankfully I didn't experience it at the level where it could melt cars :)
  5. You have a year off

I'd also love to spend a year travelling and like you I don't know how I'd pay for it. I wouldn't be in a hurry or make a big effort to travel to long list of countries. I'd prefer to take my time, enjoy my travels and see the stuff I want to see.
  6. Tokyo 2020

I hope that they have fully contained those leaking nuclear reactors before then and that they don't pose any danger to the Olympics. It's actually great for Japan and I'd love the opportunity to attend the Olympics there.

  11. Books or Movies?

The movie of the Bourne Identity is much better than the book. However, in most cases I like the book more. I love reading the book first and then seeing the movie later. A previous read of the book gives you a much clearer understanding of what's happing in the movie.
  12. I need a new fantasy series to read.

I was just about to recommend the same. I've read the first three and they are great. Real page turners, very cleverly written and great stories.
  13. To Kill a Mockingbird

It's a few years since I read it, but I still remember it as a brilliant book. Easy to read, with a strong message and a great story. Have you read other books by this author? Any that you would recommend?

Not sure that anyone will find that a particularly useful word.
  15. Website u cant live without

The Internet would be a much more boring place if I couldn't use Google. I use it for all my searches and Gmail as my primary email account.
  16. Google AdSense

I'd recommend not clicking on any of your ads. It can and will get you banned. Google don't like ads displayed on websites that reward members for participating. A reward can include forum cash in addition to real money. You might want to consider that before installing their ads.
  17. TV Into the 3rd Dimension!

The Avatar 3D movie has done a lot to spark interest in this area. Quality 3D glasses for home viewing are priced at between $100 and $200. However as the technology advances and sells more the prices will drop. I believe that in the next few years we will see lots of living rooms with 3D &...

  19. Talking Ads!

We will probably hear more and more of these types of ads as marketers endeavour to increase the impact of their online message by communicating it to our sense of hearing in addition to our sense of sight. The more ways the message is communicated to the target audience the better the chance...
  20. Dogs Can Smell Cancer

Animals have amazing intuitions that us humans may never be able to understand. I heard recently that there were practically no wild animals killed in the tsunami. They all fled to higher ground before the tsunami hit. There was a national park in Sri Lanka where 57 workers died from the...
