Judge Sets Bail for WikiLeaks Boss Julian Assange

If he actually tried fleeing from authorities, then I can see that being a pretty decent amount, as not everyone is able to afford that much, but since he turned himself in willingly, then that's actually pretty ridiculous.

    Accusations

That does sound like it'd be quite funny to read. Especially when you got a case of one member versus a half a dozen other members! I guess my thing is I don't particularly like public shaming like that, especially if it's in the form of hacking forums, and what made me think of this is one...

    Accusations

Exactly. If it was something on another forum, but say if you really didn't believe the accusations in question, you could keep a sharp eye on the member in question, and if he does do anything, treat him like you would any other troublesome member. Whether you normally do warnings or...

    Accusations

Well, if it was a case of a well-known spammer who's been going around messing up a lot of forums, then I don't really see the harm in bringing it up publically, especially if it was someone that everyone should be aware of. However, if it was just what it sounds like, accusations, then such...

    Does size matter?

If the posts are more than a year old, then that would probably stop me from joining, as in my eyes, if all the posts on a forum were a year old or more, and no one was on, or if it were only bots on, in my eyes that's what I would call a dead forum, or else people have just abandoned it over...

Advertising forums, websites & blogs (Questions)

I'm the same. Although I do it every two days. I do it that way because one time last year on a forum promotion site, we were in a 48 hour lock-down as they claimed I spammed my own topic by replying to someone else's. I also got an infraction once because I bumped it sixteen minutes too early...

    Know-It-All's / Brainiacs

I've seen this a few times on forums before. You have this person who thinks they are a complete know-it-all, they think they know everything about your site which they don't, or even if they do, they probably only know the half of it. It can be annoying at times, that's for sure.

Woman dials 999 to report snowman theft in Kent

Who the heck would call 999 (or the equivalant of 911 if in the US) to report a stolen snowman? That's just downright pathetic. I'm surprised they didn't get her for anything, as they were right: That call she made to them could've cost someone their life, as that is not a real emergency.

    Yelling!

I've never heard of that one either. Probably too young to remember it...

    PM Advertising?

If someone sends me a PM saying, hey, check out my forum or so and so forum! I consider that to be PM advertising, even if it's not their own forum. PM advertising is frowned upon on almost every forum these days, but what really makes me mad is that I'm seeing some advertisement forums...

    Forums Without Legends

I think whether a forum needs a legend or not probably depends on what kind of forum it is. For example, if it's a general chat forum, like this one or mine, it wouldn't really matter if you had a legend or not, since there's really only 3 member groups: Administrators, Moderators, Registered...

    Weird Suggestions from members?

Well, like I said, the dating site suggestion was a strange one for me, as I have never been asked of such a request before. And like I said, I enjoy general chat so I will not now, nor will I ever, change the outlook of what my site is about.

Support & help from your forum software provider..

I thought most staff members on open-source software support forums ARE volunteers? Or are there paid positions even on open source softwares?

That's okay, Jazzy. I forgive you.

    Weird Suggestions from members?

I take feedback of all kinds into consideration, Jazzy. If I don't like an idea or I don't think it'll work for whatever reason, I'll politely explain that I don't think the idea will work on the forum and I'll give my reasons why. So I do welcome all kinds of suggestions from members, even if...

    Weird Suggestions from members?

I'm in the same boat as you are, Nebulous. It's especially frusterating when you try to explain to someone why you feel that a certain feature isn't needed or why you can't add it... e.g. your host won't allow the feature, etc. as I know there are some hosts that are picky about what features...

    Weird Suggestions from members?

Have you ever gotten strange or weird suggestions from members? I know one time back in January, when Chatting Time was on a different host, I got a request to turn the forum into a dating/relationship site. Personally, I have no interest in those and I would never chage my forum to another...

Support & help from your forum software provider..

We hardly ever have problems, so there's really no need to go to the PHPBB support forum. As for the host's support forum, well, the owner of the forum is also the tech-admin on my forum at the same time, and as he's almost always on anyways, whether you go on my site or his, it's easy to ask...

Car crash leaves three people in hospital

Same here. But A96? I never heard of that before. Is that like a form of Interstate or something?
