2024 Presidential Election Campaign

(The Guardian) Fresh off his reelection win in the South Carolina Senate race, Republican Tim Scott hinted at running for president:

He would have to square off against Donald Trump, who is expected to announce another run for the White House, perhaps in the days after the midterms.

If he's better than the rest of that group, then go for it. I doubt he is, though.

Ron DeSantis has a better shot of winning as a Democrat than Tim Scott has as a Republican...

I'm really surprised that people continue to vote Democrat...I mean who can afford to keep voting for that when they've failed the American people repeatedly with their agendas? If you are hurting at the pump, at the grocery store, at your investments, and you voted Democrat, you have no right to complain.

I'm not sure who I'll be voting for in 2024, but you can bet that I won't vote the party that doesn't really care if people can put food on their table, have enough gas to get to work, can afford to retire. Nope.

I'm sorry; who died and made you moral arbiter of who gets to complain and whatnot?

I can't speak for others, but I know I won't support a party full of people like Kari Lake who actively supports LGBTQ discrimination and stripping civil rights.

Okay, so as long as people got a little scratch in their pockets, who cares what goes on otherwise?

That's nice.

Are you forgetting the American Revolutionary War? Economic freedom played a huge part in what made America. Money talks, bullshit walks. You start taking money from people, they're gonna walk out on you. You will lose support.

No, I'm not forgetting it but this is not 1776, this is 2022.

And keeping people fat, dumb and happy with a little money in their pocket is no way for a society to live.

What would you suggest instead?
Paying attention to your community and the world around you. Don't just think that because you've got a little money in your pocket that things are alright; they're not.

What gave you that idea?

Because in a person's hierarchy of needs, personal safety will trump everything else. If you're safe there, then you can think about other, more broad-reaching things, my friend. Problem is that all Republicans have talked about is crime and inflation and crime and the economy and for once, Americans zoned that out.
