'Peace' President? How Obama came to bomb seven countries in six years

Barack Obama, the man many hoped would be the 'peace President' when he was elected, has bombed seven countries during his six years in office.

The US President oversaw the first US air strikes launched in Syria this week, in a huge escalation of America’s military campaign against Isis (also known as Islamic State).

Mr Obama was elected in 2009 partly of his opposition to the Iraq war and was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize after he assumed office.

The arguably optimistic decision taken by the Norwegian Nobel Committee was taken just nine months into his Presidency and came as he was trying to manage the war in Afghanistan.

His famous 'A New Beginning' speech in Cairo saw the President declare he was seeking a fresh start "between the United States and Muslims around the world", increasing hopes he would be the antidote to George W. Bush's controversial term.

Almost six years later, Mr Obama has approved military operations in Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Somalia, Yemen, Libya and now Syria.

I believe that is about twice the number of countries that WAR-CRIMINAL Bush bombed.

How did the American Media miss this story?

True but is this how the Muslim countries welcomed the open hand of friendship?
In the beginning all the opponents of Obama were calling him a 'Muslim' and criticising him for trying to make peace with these countries.
The world has just learned the hard way they they do not want peace.
At least he is doing now what everyone was complaining about before that they thought he would not do.

Actually, yes it is. It's a shame to see you've brought into the Taqiyya misconception, DrLeftOver, truly.
This is a work of fiction brought to you by 'answering-islam.com' brought to you to discredit anything Muslims say in debate.

Well, for starters, Obama didn't lie us into a war in Iraq the way Duyba did...

Actually wasn't it lie, upon lie?
Like when one lie couldn't be carried out anymore because it was losing credibility even with the most gullible sections of the community, the reason soon changed... (And then, astoundingly they were 'buying it' again...) :faint:

I'm sorry. I was thinking of a verse in the Quran, not a blog.

Let not believers take disbelievers as allies rather than believers. And whoever [of you] does that has nothing with Allah , except when taking precaution against them in prudence. And Allah warns you of Himself, and to Allah is the [final] destination.

Equals? That is a long way away when they are treated now as property.

Not exactly.

Under some definitions of Sharia in the Mid East. If I kill your goat, under the eyes of the law, I owe you a goat.

If I kill your wife, all I have to say is "she made eye contact with me", then, in the eyes of the law, you owe me an apology.

I'm going to leavve this thread based on the old saying about arguing with a fool. :)

Leftover, you are clearly a very bigoted and (chosen to remain) ignorant human being.
You have no right to pretend you know a thing about Islam and then spew misconceptions (sexism, lying to non-Muslims and God only knows what else you're gullible enough to believe) spread from anti-Islamic websites with no basis and no respect for the context by which Allah's (swt) words have been revealed in the Qur'an.

Just because you link to a website for Qur'an, that doesn't mean you found it there - but what it f=does show is you've done absolutely no investigation into the meaning of the Ayah posted.

The Qur'an is a lot more complex than simply existing as a book you read cover to cover. It has history behind the verses, it has a message, and once translated from as complex a language as Arabic into English, it ceases to be the Qur'an as the words become ambiguous and easy to twist. Something that yourself and people like you love to capitalise on.

With that said, I'm done.
You're not an authority on Islam. You have no idea what you're talking about, and frankly I dare you to do some *sincere* investigation...
Not that you would.

(Ps, I live Islam day to day. You read about it on your cherry picked sites on the internet...I wonder which is more credible?)

Do as you wish and say what you will.

Where would you suggest I do this sincere investigation besides talking to those who had practiced the religion for several years in the US, others lived in the Middle East including the UAE and Lebanon, and reading the Book?

But I will admit that I am forced to rely on English translations because I can not read Arabic at all.

And I will maintain that there is No one universal form of Sharia, and even under a national system, the enforcement of the law is left up to the local elders and the Imam or other designated leader. Which is why rape victims end up being stoned for adultery under Islamic Law.
Do you dispute that?

Then please explain these stats coming straight from believers in Islam across the middle east and the rest of the world. It sure looks like DrLeftover comments are correct. Maybe some day I will actually get answer as to why these stats show Sharia Law as hardly peaceful and full of hate.
