To be clear, although Chaplin references democracy in this speech, I personally do not support it. To me, democracy is a tyranny of the majority. What I do support is Voluntaryism and the Non-Aggression Principle. If you want to decipher whether an act, principle or 'ism' is right or wrong, imagine it in a world with only two people. If it is wrong for me to violate you in order to get what I want then it is still wrong when applied to a greater number of people. A majority does not turn a wrong into a right.

i agree...

do you?

Fascinating.

The above linked website says this:

WE ARE NOT TAX EXEMPT
Your gifts to our work are not tax-deductible. Our efforts are bound by conscience and goodwill, not government regulation or political privilege. We refuse to be numbered or supervised by any government agency.

And then they do this:

We accept
gold, silver, bitcoin, and FRNs
or you can donate through Payal.

All I'm saying is that it is fascinating.

Have always liked this speech but somehow I think we hear this in slightly different meanings. The only words I disagree with in this is when he says WE THINK TO MUCH AND FEEL TO LITTLE. I think it is WE DO NOT THINK ENOUGH FROM OUR BAD DECISIONS AND FEEL TO LITTLE FROM THE BAD OUTCOME IT PRODUCES.

Interesting link. It seems they take a part of Ayn Rands philosophy which I like and mix it with hippie ideas of if we just stopped war we would all get along somehow when there is evil everywhere.

i think it's more if we stop war and only worry about defense, then the world would be just a little peaceful... and let everyone else worry about themselves instead of trying to be world police and at the same time letting america crumble from with-in...

but that is not how it works... all 25 of the top munitions companies in 2014 had increased sales and profit, 18 out of the 25 munitions companies are American.

War is profitable!
What kind of defence would there be without fear?
Why would you need to defend yourself if you had no enemy?

haven't you read 1984?

that's how the elite wants to make it seem like how it works...

what's your point? is the american economy getting better? no, it's not, it's getting worse... is america continuing to make others hate them due to all of the fallacy, illusions and killings? yes, indeed...

War is profitable!
yes, for the already wealthy and powerful... does the average Nebulous see any of that money or the american economy? nope...

What kind of defence would there be without fear?
just because america would end war and such doesn't mean everyone would stop fearing america...

Why would you need to defend yourself if you had no enemy?
why do you think america needs a constant enemy? that's ignorance at it's best... and just because we're not at war with an enemy doesn't mean america doesn't have any enemies...

haven't you read 1984?
yes, i have... your point being?

WAR IS PEACE

FREEDOM IS SLAVERY

IGNORANCE IS STRENGTH

war is not peace, war is pretty much the total opposite of what peace means...

freedom is not slavery, freedom is the total opposite of slavery...

ignorance is not strength, indeed ignorance is weakness... ;)

Now it may not always work out but for the morally better side War is peace many times.

WW1

WW2

Korean War

Civil War

As I said Hippie nonsense mixed in with Ayn Rands philosophy. Just doing defense without taking proactive steps to stop a act before it becomes defensive is a silly notion in the real world.

and they are doing a very good job at it

It has nothing to do with the American economy, it is meaningless now. We have a global economy and these multinationals don't care less about your American economy, they only care about their profit margins.

War is profitable!
yes, for the already wealthy and powerful... does the average Nebulous see any of that money or the american economy? nope...
Nope, the average Nebulous are only pawns used to make the super rich super richer.

What kind of defence would there be without fear?
just because america would end war and such doesn't mean everyone would stop fearing america...
What do you mean 'America would end war'? they have no interest in ending war. Fear is now built into society, just watch CNN or FOX, they thrive on creating fear.

Why would you need to defend yourself if you had no enemy?

Not just America, all the super powers, they need enemies to justify military spending.

haven't you read 1984?
yes, i have... your point being?
My point being that in 1984 they were always at war, and one day an enemy would be a friend and the next a friend would be an enemy, there was always an enemy.

It is not meaningless. If Americas economy continues to worsen so does the worlds. And since we are the biggest buyers and makers of weapons it is far from meaningless.

Nope, the average Nebulous are only pawns used to make the super rich super richer.

It is not the super rich that have made us pawns. It is our own government creating crony capitalism that has made us pawns. People just go where the money is and the rich are not to be blamed for our own government more then happy to get involved in the private market.

Of course America wants to end war. But it is a fallacy and just common sense it could never happen. And that just gives the world a excuse to blame us for the ills in the world.

Not just America, all the super powers, they need enemies to justify military spending.

We do not need to justify our spending because several times in our history other countries decided not to do so which endangered everyone on the planet. So now America has to have a military that not only protects us but countries like Europe who will not do it for themselves. Real enemies against America and the world will always be there and I for one am happy to have our money going to having the biggest guns in the land. Much rather see it going to that then horribly run government programs like welfare, health care and all the other disasters they create.
