I had a car accident on my way to work this morning. I was speeding on loose gravel and slid off the side of the road on a corner into long grass and through a fence. ugh. I can't claim insurance cos I was speeding.

Oh, that sucks. How bad is the damage? Are you okay?

That does suck. And are you OK?

Wouldn't the loose gravel be a road hazard?

Probably means on a secondary gravel road.

Yea. The road was being resealed. I'm fine, not a scratch. The car needs a new bumper, headlight and fender. The entire side of the car is seriously scratched mutiple times.

Well that sucks. Let's hope you have enough cash to fix it.

That's real shitty...lucky you didn't get a scratch though.

Yeah, hope you can afford to pay for the car fix

Why won't our insurance pay for the damage? I work for an auto insurance company and we still pay even if the person was speeding.

It's just part of the policy. I think all (if not, most) insurance companies here in NZ have it as a part of their policy.

Oh, you live in New Zealand? It's different here in the US.
