Albany, New York - November 15, 2010
New York's largest beer distributors have agreed to stop selling alcoholic energy drinks and now have until Dec. 10 to clear their inventory.
The New York State Liquor Authority has not banned the drinks outright, but the SLA has voiced concern over the fact that the drinks can contain as much alcohol as four beers. New York Sen. Chuck Schumer is calling for a federal investigation into the drink companies' marketing tactics.
Alcoholic energy beverages are banned in Michigan, Wisconsin, Utah, and Oklahoma.
