An Australian man has been rescued by police after getting lost in his own garden, while investigating what he thought was a wild dog, it's been reported.

The man, identified as "self-confessed idiot Jason", by Darwin's NT News, was eventually located 300m (330 yards) from his house. Jason says he had been watching TV and having a few beers when his dog became agitated. He thought he saw a dingo and went outside into his 8ha (20 acre) property to look for it.

But soon he was lost in the scrub, wearing only shorts, with a phone fast running out of battery. "I don't even know how it happened," Jason says. "I turned to come back and all of a sudden I was in long grass. I just thought 'Where the bloody hell am I?'"

He called the emergency operator, but was rebuffed by a dispatcher who said the situation was not an emergency. Police eventually found him uninjured - except for a few scratches and a mass of midge bites.

Flushed sex toy caused 'major flood'

Sex toys, false teeth and a dead sheep were among a list of unusual things found stuck in Devon sewers.

A south west water company revealed their surprise findings which also included bicycles, knives and a dismantled greenhouse, reports the Exeter Express and Echo.

A spokesman said during once incident sewage workers found a sex toy which was so big it blocked the underground pipes.

"When it comes to clearing blockages, we've come to expect the unexpected. When we're looking for the cause it could be anything and it's surprising what you do find.

"The sex toy found actually caused a major internal flood."

What the heck was it, a blow up doll?

Blow up dolls aren't very big, one of the guys I knew had one... not that I know what size pipes are in question! I have seen a blow a 'toy' that's like a small bed on a website though..maybe it was something like that?

IDK. It says the sex toy was flushed and was so big it blocked the underground pipes.. Must have been one HUGE vibrator.

I thought it was talking about the bigger sewers? I mean it talked about bikes and dismantled green house? I don't really understand how something that big (or even something small if you think of vibrators) can be flushed...I'm thinking the toilet and there's the s bend on it, so... it wouldn't leave the bowl at all.

How about a big rubber dildo then? Would that pass through the s bend?

I don't see it happening. Something big enough to block a pipe on its own but small enough to be flushed? Somehow it doesn't fit together. Just because it would have to go up first from the bottom of the bowl and through the bend and then into the pipe and through its turns to finally get into the underground pipes. Or maybe the toilets are different over there when it comes to the s bend..? I mean the shape of the toilet is different over there.. I'm just assuming the rest is at least basically the same. But still... the toilet outlet is still smaller than the actual pipes, right?

I just connected the pipes with those bigger ones where a man can go into.

I don't know about how the toilets work over in the UK. It's also hard to tell from the article picture where this sex toy came out or how:

I think it was dumped there in person and it went with the water til it got stuck and caused a blockage. Not sure why choose the sewer and not a trash container...less work to put in a bag and trash it than go through the trouble of getting into a sewer...

^ Probably exactly right. Bet they threw it into an open sewer grate and it got stuck like you said. Those grates have openings and you easily throw something like this down there.

Washingtonian Magazine .... blows it.

Complete with badly Photoshopped images (a flying egg in perfect focus in the top image, not to mention USSR propaganda art in the background, and a cut off finger in this one)

right side bookcase is a cut and paste of the left one with the kid's finger still in it

Watch Connecticut Senator Richard Blumenthal narrowly avoid a train during a railway safety press conference

Actions may speak louder than words, but Sen. Richard Blumenthal took that mentality to the extreme on Friday.

The Connecticut Democrat was standing behind Milford Mayor Ben Blake on the town's Metro-North station platform as the two held a press conference on railway safety. Complete with easels and charts, Blake was laying out the MTA's safety violations, which total 139 over the last 10 years, worth $552,000 in fines.

"Safety, as you know, is paramount," Blake said — and then this happened.

Evidently "STAND BEHIND YELLOW LINE" doesn't apply to politicians.

(KATU) A Washougal woman is suing the owner of a pet duck in Estacada, Ore.

Cynthia Ruddell claims Lolita Rose's duck attacked her after it wandered down the street.

Ruddell's attorney, Gregory Price, told KATU, "... The duck flapped its wings at her and knocked her back and she fell down on an outstretched hand and fractured her wrist in two spots."

The incident happened May 7, 2012. Ruddell broke her right wrist, sprained or strained her elbow and shoulder, and suffered a rotator cuff injury.

The lawsuit claims Rose knew the duck had, "Abnormally dangerous propensities in attacking people."

Rose is accused of "needlessly endangering the public" because she didn't keep the duck contained and didn't warn neighbors about the danger.

"We had neighbors that indicated this duck was a crazy duck that attacked kids at the school bus stop and other people before," Price told KATU.

The suit seeks $25,000 for medical expenses and $250,000 for her pain, her suffering and the interference her injuries have had on her normal, daily activities.

So... what happens if one refuses to go to court because they think the accusation is unfounded and not worth their time?

I think the first comment has a point.

Once upon a time, on the way home from work, there was this goose in the road that REFUSED to give way to a 1 tone Chevy pickup.

And when I got out to shoo it away, it argued with me.

You know what?

Later that day it got very well acquainted with my roaster pan, some red wine, and a couple of small onions.

Yes it did.

No, I didn't file a lawsuit either.

The man appeared serious and surprised that he had called 911 earlier this month and asked a Washington County dispatcher where he could buy some pot. (Listen to the call below)

Man: Where can I get some marijuana?

911: Excuse me?

Man: Where can I buy some marijuana this morning?

911: Do you realize you called the police department?

Man: No I didn’t. That’s very interesting. Well, let me ask you the same question. (long pause) It’s a legitimate question.

911: Which question is that?

Man: Where can I buy some marijuana this morning?

The dispatcher told the man that she had no idea where he could buy some pot. The man thanked her and the Thursday, May 1 call ended.

China's female parking spaces

"What takes up 12 parking spaces? 6 women drivers!" This is a sexist joke about the skills of female drivers but it pretty much sums up one of the talking points on Chinese and also international social media right now. A shopping mall in China has sparked controversy after allocating extra wide spaces for women. They're marked out in pink with the message "Ladies Only". They give about 11 inches (28cm) more room than the average space.

There's been a mixed reaction on the Chinese micro blogging site Sina Weibo. Some thought it was a good idea while others found it sexist and disrespectful. "Aren't men and women equal? There's March 8 International Women's Day. There are women's colleges. There are female-only compartments on trains. Now there's a ladies only parking space. Is it really equal?!" wrote one user.
