Been a home owner since March 2008 after settling my mother's estate with my half-sister; currently pay about $625 a month on the mortgage.Do you own your own house? Why or why not?
You can do that as a renter you just have to cover up everything you did before you leave.Yes.
For one thing, owning appeals very much to my independent nature; and if I want to turn a jacuzzi into a cat box or drive a nail in the wall, or forty...no problems.![]()
Congrats! After paying the mortgage for most of my working life, my wife and I now own our property outright.
No, I am not. I wish I was, but that will never happen.
Nope, odds aren't good I ever will be.
I'd...rather live on the west coast, thank you.Well you're both west coast peeps where the wages are higher. Save up that west coast money and move to the south or the mid-west where they're practically giving houses away.![]()

Umm. Hate to point out the obvious, but the South doesn't like me...Well you're both west coast peeps where the wages are higher. Save up that west coast money and move to the south or the mid-west where they're practically giving houses away.![]()
My biggest issue is politics. I'd have to live in a very not conservative area or that shit just won't fly.Same here but I visited the south & mid-west last month and I was pleasantly surprised. There was tons of stuff to do, cool sights to see, the people were really friendly, everything was cheap. I can see why people would want to move out there. If I ever ended up out there it wouldn't be so bad. That being said I have no plans to move at the moment.

Correct. Best not to move that wayTrue the more liberal parts of the south are usually big major metropolitan cities and those aren't cheap to live in. Maybe cheaper by our standards, but still not as cheap as you'd want them to be.
I will sacrifice living in a more expensive city/apartment over buying a home in a cheap area and living amongst nut jobs.True the more liberal parts of the south are usually big major metropolitan cities and those aren't cheap to live in.
