Forums are not as they used to be anymore, While some people tend to enjoy using forums still, social media did take over quite a bit and some will only use social media and not forums.

When it comes to an idea you have for a new forum, are you eager to set it up and get it out there or has that feeling died off?

I have an idea for one but I can only think of one other person it will appeal to.

Nope, I don't see the point of trying these days. It'd be more work than it would be worth.

Not likely. More likely to start a site for my writing with maybe some forums one the side in case I get enough folks come around to have some writing-focussed discussion beyond just commenting on stories.

I don’t want to run multiple forums.
Which is why that remains an idea for now.

Running a forum is a challenge, one should have a strong purpose to commit to it, otherwise is a waste of time.
I love forums, and they are not dead at all, I have found really popular forums with tons of activity and even more engaging than social media groups.
Building a forum is not just buying the software and put a domain to it. It's a commitment to build a community in which most fail on that, then it's blamed on "forums are dead"
As long there are people on the internet, there will be forums too on about any niche.

A forum is not just a website where people can sign in, it's a community.

Yes, I am eager to start another forum for another of my business, I can't wait, but probably next year.

I gave up last year. Too much of a headache and time consuming. Never again

I don't even think about starting a new forum. I already have my own and I'm part of others, so between that and real life stuff, no time.

I am, but there's no point to it. Forums are pretty much dead, sadly.
