Do you think Athletes/Celeb's should be role models? Do you think that children that idolize the ones who set bad examples will end up doing the things that their idols do?

athletes aren't that bad, and neither are most celebs. it's just the really stupid ones that we have to watch out for.

Just about everything in the media is poison. You turn on the tv to see sex and drugs being glamorized and celebrated.

Children only 'idolize' the bad ones because that is all the media is willing to cover.

Exactly. Not every singer is beating up their girlfriend, not every performer is taking illegal medication, not every athlete is taking steroids, not every sports team is corrupt. When it comes down to it, children are probably exposed to more of this via news, school, and it isn't beneficial to them, but I don't think as I child I've ever idolized any of those bad examples to make myself into the person I am now. So... Yeah, they're bad examples, but it's just another example on how not to grow up in my eyes.

Well I think Atheletes and Celeb's are rubbish role models nowadays. I mean most of them cheat on their partner

Like I said. You only hear about those few bad eggs through the media - therefore, children can only idolize them as that is all they can see.

I would always look up to an athlete, they are obviously fit well-going people that know their good's and wrongs. You get a ranch of celeb's, the good ranch that star in all the kids/teenage film's then play a big part in other thing's such as Ant & Dec who do I'm a celebrity get me out of here or Britain's got talent, surely you have heard of them. Then you get the bunch of psycho maniacs like Amy Winehouse, constantly getting put in rehah or Pete Docherty, who gladly has control of their life.

So basically all depend's on which role model you choose to rely on.

The media will always show what gets the most money for them. People in general prefer to read about the sordid affairs and dark secrets of people than the sugar-and-rainbows stories you'd imagine go on more.

The first mistake anyone does is turning on the TV in search of news? Do not use the TV for news because it's long since stopped being about the news but about being entertaining. I wouldn't use people whether they are athelets/celebs or not as role models because every person has their flaws and no one is truly better then anyone else because each has different strengths and flaws but role models get their strengths brought out while hiding actual flaws which makes us think of them as better people when they aren't.

Yes and No!

Some of the celebs like, Lindsay Lohan, Britney Spears, and a few others are not good role models. Not someone I'd want my children to idolize. However since the media loves scandals these are the people our children are subjected to.

Some celebs such as most athletes and singers suchs as Taylor Swift, Beyonce, and or Destiny's Child, and Alicia Keys are wonderful roommates because they all have a positive image. Yeah, they all walk around scantily clad but its all in good taste unlike a number of other celebs out there.
