Auto-Ban system?

I was just banned on another forum,

the message was:

Your forum account is currently banned.

Ban Reason: Automatically banned by the Akismet system for spamming.

Ban will be lifted: Never

I think it thought I was a spammer because I replied to a couple topics within a few seconds?



Either way this is a stupid thing to implement as it will make mistakes and chase off good members.



What are your thoughts on an automatic ban system?

Holy crap! I've never in my life have seen anything so stupid. I also reply to posts very quickly. So, with this system in place, anyone who does that will get an auto-ban??? That forum won't be for long doing crap like this to members.

I contacted the admin of the forum to un ban me. He said banned lifted. He did not apologize for the inconvenience or take responsibility for the ban. I mentioned something about it in my reply, he said: Tell the owner of Askimet (the auto-ban software) to apologize, not me.



It was his fault & he should at least show a bit of remorse because something he installed calls innocent people spammers and then permanently bans them.

Sorry, but he sounds like a rude and arrogant creep. He owes you an appology not the owner of Askimet. Wonder how many members don't even bother to contact him regarding the ban. This is definately one forum that I would not want anything to do with.
