Auto-New-Member Software?

Is there such a thing? I heard a rumor about a certain dying weed board that installed some kind of auto member maker software out of desperation. If this is so, I'm over here LMBO.



Does anyone know about this silly kind of software? Is there such a thing or are our giggles wasted? hehe

Hi EYE. I know so little about bots, but I heard a rumor about this auto-member creator software and it appears to be happening somewhere. I'm wanting to sing Desperado over here. hehe

@Chatsie: If it existed, it could be programmed to make posts. There's a news bot that does it so it is possible. I couldn't find any auto-new-member software when I did a search. That doesn't mean, however, that some computer genius didn't made one on their own.

The news bot only copies things from the feeds of news sites and creates topics for them.

This sounds more like a bot figuring out what a thread is about by checking for keywords and picking an appropriate reply. We've seen it...



And, my search didn't yield much either :/

I haven't had much time to observe the dying board where it's happening, but it seems like a new member is created every 10-15 minutes or so. And, no, they don't post. I think they're there to make the few valid members appear not so lonely. My friend thinks it's some kind of software but I have to wonder if it's not someone desperate who is doing it all by himself.

Why does there need to be a software? Most forum softwares already have a section in their ACP to create new members with a couple clicks. Although I never really saw the point to that feature.. Unless the board was not open to the public yet and the admin was offering pre-registrations.

I happen to know the dying weed board that Cinnamon is referring to. I have visited as a guest even though I still have an active account there. I have no intentions of ever posting there again even though it has a new owner. There are only a few members left that are brave enough to keep posting there. I say brave enough because some of the staff wil jump all over you if they don't like you or don't like your replies. I believe there is a staff member who is creating fake accounts by himself. Why? I think to make guests viewing the board think it's such a great forum that all these new members are signing up. It's a pathetic ploy and a last ditch effort to save the dying weed board.

No, it's a General Discussion forum. Without posting the name of the forum and getting sued, we just call it the dying weed board.

Although I never really saw the point to that feature..

It's very useful for checking permissions without actually having to go through the sign-up procedure (which depending on anti-bot settings may be quite long...)
