Is it weird or just me that someone has a avatar of a young female yet the profile lists this person as a male.
Identity issues perhaps....? :|

Not at all. Maybe that male is a fan of the female in the avatar.

This!

My avatar is currently a cat. Does that mean I think I'm a cat and have identity issues? :P

Or a really bad attempt to mislead others.
In order to mislead others, don't you think the person would have been more devious and not filled in the gender box?

Yes and I made a reference to something that relates to avatars and identity issues. Why are we narrating what we're doing?

Perhaps....perhaps not. I only posed the question, your defending the action. And as we ALL KNOW not all that post here are really what they seem in the RW world.

And why do you seem to care so much?

I'd think if they wanted their avatar to reflect themselves then they would have used a picture of themselves as what better image to represent yourself but an image of yourself? I would say images of people other then themselves or other objects, animals, etc. is more of a reflection on a interest they have.

I don't. It was a observation which i believed i am allowed to make. You decided to defend and make excuses for the member. Really he/she can post a picture of a cow in as much as i care. I do question the need to get so defensive . Perhaps it's you that cares more then one should.

Are you suggesting that this male member wishes or has a thing for the ladies hence the avatar ?

An avatar can be anything for any reason and it doesnt necessarily mean that person IS what their avatar IS.

Everyone's perceptions are different and sometimes people make something seemingly innocent into a bigger issue. Why read into it? The member likes a girl, so they set her as their avatar. People put up avatars of stuff they like all the time. :dontknow:

Possibly but just as possible that's not the case. The thing is to try to not make assumptions.

Well, maybe you consciously or subconsciously do - want a flying saucer and/or a Christmas hat! :)

The avatar is still a reflection of self since one selects it...
