when did you get your driver's license... at what age? who taught you how to drive? can you drive stick shift? can you change a flat tire.
i got my driver's license at 16. i think driver's ed was something for the "rich" kids. my dad taught me how to drive. i passed the driver's test the first time around. a classic VW beetle was the perfect car to learn how to drive standard transmission. you barely need the clutch to shift gears... except for on hills. knowing how to change a tire was part of my Dad's driving test. back in the day when you had "snow tires", your birthday determined whether you put them on or took them off of HIS car. my February birthday meant taking snow tires & sister's September birthday meant she put them on.

Great song!

when did you get your driver's license...

Permit at 15 and license at 16
at what age?

16
who taught you how to drive?

a few different people. My mom, grandma, brother & his friend. Also did professional behind the wheel lessons that my grandpa paid for as a birthday present.

can you drive stick shift?

Yes, I drove one for many years.

can you change a flat tire.

Sure can, easy peezy.

1) I learned how to drive when I was around 14.
2) Mostly my step dad.
3) Yes, I can drive manual.
4) Yes, I can change a tire.

1. I started driving at the age of 16.
2. My mother taught me how to drive.
3. No I can't drive a stick shift.
4. Yes, I can change a tire.

I can drive anything with wheels/tracks up to 18 wheeler tractor-trailer rigs, although my heavy class license did expire and I did not renew it.

Are those big rigs hard to drive?

I got my driver's license at 16.

A boyfriend taught me in my Mom's VW Beetle.
No formal driver's ed.

Yes.

Yes; and put on chains, cable and regular chains.

:highfive:

Never.

I NEVER got my license..

And it is a good thing because I'd be in Riker's if I had..

I saw everything my husband went through when driving in the city.. and I have no patience.. I play Burnout and GTA to blow off steam and I dunno, I might just blur that line between reality and fantasy if I am pissed off behind the wheel..

But in all truth.. I would be a nervous driver in the city.. I am willing to learn up here for highway driving and stuff but just the bullshit you'd have to go through when driving through any of the 5 boroughs would've had me in prison for a long time..

My father has been talking about me getting my license since I was 13. He taught my mom and my brother how to drive. Both are excellent drivers..

My father tried to teach me at least 2x and I nearly killed him both times.. and the nut still wants to teach me..

My brother tried to teach me using the same exact way that our Dad taught him.. and that is the "Sink or Swim" military approach.. (Dad's words, not mine) except basically, instead of them dumping you in to water and then telling you to swim, he stops the car and tells you to drive.. I came within half an inch of killing him in a hotel parking lot in Seattle back in 2003.. and his goofy self was smiling as if I drove perfectly.. and I damn near gave my stepmom a heart attack while doing so.

So, THIS APPROACH DOES NOT WORK FOR A BALL OF NERVES AND ANXIETY LIKE MYSELF.. BUT ALSO WORKS FAMOUSLY FOR A BALL OF CRAZY LIKE MY BROTHER.. LOL

My husband wants to teach me, and I am willing to try that in tandem with driving classes..

My Mom doesn't have the patience for teaching me to drive, but she said she would try.. but she has night blindness so she wouldn't be able to teach me at night.

All of my siblings drive and are good drivers..

Hmm, if having no patience plus nerves and anxiety are a factor, maybe don't take up driving.

It causes and evokes all of that! :p

It is a confidence issue for me.. so I just need to learn in an environment that I am most comfortable in..

My brother has been moving the car around since before he got his license.. so he had some practice already..

Oh and just to clarify, I nearly killed my father twice.. not my brother.. when my brother tried to teach me I told him that that technique was what nearly got our Dad killed and it made me very nervous.. so we didnt do the lesson.

But I do have to get my license though.. if anything for in case of emergency..

Early twenties. I went to driving school. I can't drive stick nor change a tire but I asked my dude to teach me.
