Banned by association

Have you ever been banned at a forum simply because the admin had problems with a friend of yours?

If this happened to you, how would you feel? If you seen an admin doing this on a forum you frequent, would you respect his/her decision?

Ain't that the truth. I believe its unethical. Its actually happened to me recently. The admin and my friend had some beef / drama so he bans the friend and me just because I associate with this person he hates.



I can't say I was bothered as the admin seems to have no common sense at all and I had already planned on ceasing my activity anyways.

Funny you should bring this up because this just happened to me. I have never been banned from a forum but must say I'm glad I was banned from this particular one. If an Admin wants to act like this and judge me by the friends I associate with then that's a forum I don't want anything to do with. It's unethical and pathetic. What happens when the person being banned has a huge friends list? Do they all get banned too?

And I think that while some prejudice is to be expected this goes too far.

Well i used to be on a forum which i had a massive disagreement with the owner. I was banned. Eventually, they must of realized i had all their active members on MSN and they'd let me use their accounts. He banned them all and a week after i never saw the forum again.

Happened to me (eventually - took a bit longer) and about 30 other people on a forum we used to run at. Needless to say... we're not associated with that place any more.
