Mason Dzora, six, has been blind since birth, however now American echolocation expert Daniel Tish is helping him with his groundbreaking technique.

Mason is only the fourth British child be taught Daniel’s method of echolocation, or flashsonar as he calls it, which teaches people to make a clicking sound with their mouth, before listening to slight echoes in order to gauge where objects are around them.

It is similar to the way bats and dolphins use sonar to ‘see’ the world around them.

His mum Lorraine, 44, said: ‘It is mind-blowing to see how far he has come in these short days. Just think what his future will hold.

‘Daniel was testing Mason by putting plates around him for him to find and he was locating them, it was astounding.’

Mason, who has five older siblings, is treated as a ‘normal six-year-old’ by his family, and apparently has a ‘wonderful mathematical brain’.

He was born blind due to a condition called Leber’s congenital amaurosis, which is an inherited illness.
