WEST NEW YORK, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) — A bus driver has been hit with multiple charges, after allegedly using a cellphone while driving and causing a chain-reaction crash that left a baby dead in West New York, N.J. on Tuesday.

Easy solution: No public transportation driver can have a cell phone while on duty. Make them sign in before shift and have a person collect their cell phone. At the end of shift, make them sign back in and then give them the cell phone back.

I've seen school bus drivers on the phone while there are kids on the bus.

If you are a public transportation driver, call on your phone during break, and hang up before driving again.
