The tears of a child dying
Crying because he’s been diagnosed
With a disease that he doesn’t even know
Lying in children’s hospital bed
Life hanging by a thread
Other kids are outside having fun, but he’s crying instead…
…The tears of a child
The tears of a child holding his mother’s hand
Because he doesn’t yet understand
Why his life has to be so unfair
Pain hurts him everywhere
While they try to cheer him up by giving him toys
They know it’s bad, he can’t recognize his mother’s voice
His tiny body is no match for the disease about to kill him
The tears of a child unloved
Knowing heartbreak before he’s even grown
Moving from home to home
An orphan looking for real parents to please him
While the other kids throw rocks and tease him
The tears of a child unloved
Knowing heartbreak before he’s even grown
Feeling hated and alone
Nobody cares
Nobody likes him
The tears of a child, no brother anymore
His older brother shot outside his front door
Spends each night praying for world peace
Plays the piano hoping the pain will cease
The tears of a kid who misses his brother
Prayed everyday for God to bring him back
Tears of a child
No child should cry…
Tears of a child abused
Crying and bruised
Wondering why daddy hates her
Wondering why daddy blames her
Blames her for a messy divorce
He whips her with no remorse
She sleeps in fear
She sleeps afraid
Feeling hurt and betrayed
Who can she trust?
Her own father hates her
And still wondering why daddy hates her…
Tears of a child … rejected
Tears of a child … confused
Tears of a child … misled
Tears of a child … betrayed
Tears of a child … hurt
Tears of a child … reflective
Tears of a child
No child should cry…
