Well 4 hours later - after 1st 999 call and the ambulance has arrived

And a complaint will definatly be made.

The paramedic that came in the car has been here for an hour and a half, been calling over the radio since she got here. She's fuming!

WTF!? we've waited 1 hour and 40 mins and it's just a paramedic. no ambulance!

I agree with EE. You need to report this to as many media outlets as you possibly can. I hope your step dad is going to be okay. Please let us know.

I'm fuming just reading this. A lot of people have a lot of explaining to do. Like you said, if this were a heart attack, you'd be freakin' dead!

ABSOLUTLY DISGRACEFUL!!!!

High Prioty 999 call and it's been 1 hour since we called them! Still no Ambulance. Thankfully it's not life or death just my step dad coughing up blood - maybe an ulcer or something. But good job no-ones had a heart attack or dying!

Now ringing 999 again to find out where the hell they are!

EDIT: Apparently the ambulance has had to come from 'outside the area' hence why it's taken over an hour :/

maybe they had to deal with something that was 'life or death' first.

was it not possible to drive to a hospital within the same time frame as it took them to get there?

but if it was a heart attack maybe it would have been treated as a higher priority.

I would think someone coughing up blood is pretty high priority.

And then Eghean.

Hello there! Long time no see. Did you bring me some Pringles?

I guess it depends on what you are used to.

Here, if you were conscious, could speak clearly and were not disoriented in anyway and coughed up a bit of blood, you would get in a car and have someone take you to a hospital. Emergency serviced are more used for really serious stuff. Coughing up blood could be anything and a bleeding ulcer is hardly life threatening unless you somehow got the Ebola virus or something.

I am not trying to minimize the issue here, but in 4 hours I would have been to the hospital, been checked out and most likely back home again.

Yes, I understand that but 4 hours?!?! and no my step dad is paralysed from the neck down, we don't have a van only a normal car, which he can't get in. Only time we need to take him somewhere a st johns ambulance picks him up.

It took a further 12 hours for a doctor to see him after he got to the hospital. When he got there he had to wait 6 hours on a trolley before they could find him a standard bed - he needs a proper airbed.

He's alright now though, Not being ill anymore and they put a camera down today - don't know what was found yet as I haven't spoke to mum in great detail. Keeping him in over night again.

Oh and it wasn't 'abit of blood' it was bowls full... Mum measured 1 litre whilst the medic was at the house and another 2 bowls full at the hospital.

And like I said. He is paralysed from the neck down and a head injury. - Not your average patient.

4 hours in not acceptable by any means. I can only imagine how scared he was along with you and your Mum.

Is this hospital short of staff? 12 hours to see a patient throwing up bowls full of blood is again unacceptable.

Glad he's not being ill anymore. Also happy to hear they have put the camera down. Please just keep us updated as to what they find is wrong. Big

Hello to you too, love. I'm afraid I didn't bring any delicious Pringles this time. Come to think of it, I haven't had any in a couple of months. Truly depressing. How have you been?
