(The Guardian) Unconfirmed reports of shooting at Utah Valley University
We are receiving unconfirmed reports of a shooting at the Utah Valley University, at an event where conservative activist Charlie Kirk was speaking.

The Guardian is seeking to independently confirm reports that Kirk has been shot. Utah senator Mike Lee, a Republican, said that he was “tracking the situation” closely. “Please join me in praying for Charlie Kirk and the students gathered there,” he added in his post on X.
Utah Valley University confirms shots fired on campus
The Utah Valley University police have confirmed to my colleague, Anna Betts, that shots were fired on campus.

According to Deseret News, a local media outlet based in Salt Lake City, bystanders report seeing Kirk shot near his neck during a Q&A with students.

They also report that “a suspect is in custody, according to a UVU alert sent to students. The campus is on lockdown.”

I'm tired of these people abusing gun rights just to hurt others for a laugh. It's sickening.

When did violence ever become appropriate in political discourse?
And why lump all gun owners in with whatever sick :censored: shot Kirk?

Ask a liberal, they'll tell you. Anyway, this comes a few days after he blasted the media for not caring more about the Ukraine girl that was stabbed and killed on a train. Maybe the POS was radicalized by MSNBC/CNN for saying how much of a piece of shit Kirk was for going against the narrative.

(The Guardian) 5:42pm Summary
--Charlie Kirk, a Trump ally and rightwing activist, has been shot and killed at an event at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah, on Wednesday. Here’s what we know so far:
--Kirk, 31, died after being shot during a presentation on campus. Donald Trump first announced the death in a Truth Social post.
--Donald Trump wrote: “The Great, and even Legendary, Charlie Kirk, is dead. No one understood or had the Heart of the Youth in the United States of America better than Charlie. He was loved and admired by ALL, especially me, and now, he is no longer with us. Melania and my Sympathies go out to his beautiful wife Erika, and family. Charlie, we love you!”
--Campus police are investigating the incident. The university said the suspect is not in custody. A person arrested earlier has been released and is no longer a suspect.
--Kirk, the executive director of Turning Point USA (TPUSA), was shot at about 12.10pm local time while appearing at an event. In video posts circulating on social media, Kirk can be seen getting struck while speaking and sitting beneath a tent. Kirk was there as part of the American Comeback tour, which is hosted by the TPUSA chapter at Utah Valley. Video footage shows students on campus running away from the sound of gunshots.
--Kirk was about 20 minutes into a presentation when a shot was fired from a nearby building, the university told CNBC. The university has said a “single shot” was fired towards Kirk.
--Political leaders in the US immediately condemned the attack. Joe Biden, the former US president, tweeted: “There is no place in our country for this kind of violence. It must end now. Jill and I are praying for Charlie Kirk’s family and loved ones.”
--Barack Obama also condemned political violence, writing on X: We don’t yet know what motivated the person who shot and killed Charlie Kirk, but this kind of despicable violence has no place in our democracy. Michelle and I will be praying for Charlie’s family tonight, especially his wife Erika and their two young children.
--Senior Democrats and Republicans also condemned the shooting. Gavin Newsom, Josh Shapiro Chuck Schumer and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez were among Democrats who condemned the attack. JD Vance, Pam Bondi, Kristi Noem and Pete Hegseth paid tribute to Kirk and asked the public to pray for him.
--The House speaker, Mike Johnson, told reporters in the Capitol that “political violence has become all too common in American society. This is not who we are. It violates the core principles of our country.”
--In an internal email to staff members that was posted online on Wednesday, the Turning Point USA COO, Justin Streiff, said: “It is with a heavy heart that we, the Turning Point USA leadership team, write to notify you that earlier this afternoon Charlie went to his eternal reward with Jesus Christ in Heaven … However, in the meantime, Turning Point USA and Turning Point Action will be closed for business until Monday, the 15th – likely longer.”
--The White House lowered its flag to half-staff in Kirk’s honor.

The price of fame is rapidly turning into security.

But who wants secret service type stuff invading all privacy?

(The Epoch Times) Chris Pratt, Jason Aldean Among Celebrities Paying Tribute to Charlie Kirk
Actor Chris Pratt and country singer Jason Aldean are among the many celebrities posting tributes online to mourn the death on Sept. 10 of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, who was assassinated during an event at Utah Valley University.

The conservative influencer was on the first stop of “The American Comeback Tour,” an initiative that promoted public discourse between the political commentator and college students at various schools across the country.

Kirk, 31, was shot in the neck while speaking to a large crowd of students at the Orem, Utah-based college campus. He was rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Kirk is survived by his wife of four years, Erika, a 3-year-old daughter, and a 1-year-old son. “Praying for Charlie Kirk right now, for his wife and young children, for our country,” Pratt wrote on X. “We need God’s grace. God help us.”

“It’s been a hard day not only in our family, but all over the country,” said Aldean on Instagram, calling Kirk “one of the kindest, smartest, and bravest people” he'd ever met. “I’m honored to have met and spoke with him on a few occasions. He was a man of peace and wanted nothing but the best for our country and its youth. We might have lost Charlie today but what he has done will live on forever.”

Singer-songwriter John Rich, better known as one-half of the country music duo Big & Rich, also remembered Kirk online, sharing that he was honored to know him and sing at his events.

“He was a true Christian, and is now seeing Jesus face to face,” Rich wrote. “Pray for his family and friends. RIP Charlie, you made a difference in this world, and you will be sorely missed.”

Actor Rob Schneider took to X to share a Bible verse and a short prayer. “As we pray for our dear friend and brother in Christ, American Patriot, Father, Husband and son, Charlie Kirk, we know that our God is a loving God. And we must remember that vengeance is the Lord’s. Not ours,” the comedian wrote. “May Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior bless and heal our brother Charlie, and give peace to his family and friends at this time.”

“RIP Charlie Kirk,” actor Josh Duhamel—who stars in the new Western series “Ransom Canyon”—captioned alongside a photo of Kirk and his family on Instagram. “Please remember, no matter what your political beliefs, that this man had a wife and two beautiful children who no longer have him. Please pray for this madness to stop.”

“We love you Charlie,” actress Candace Cameron Bure wrote on Instagram. “Well done, good and faithful servant.”

That's not how conservatives normally roll, it's more of a liberal thing to burn things down and cause chaos.

I guess I'm not up on the conservative Who's Who! I don't recognize that name at all, but then again, it took me a bit to figure out who Charlie Kirk was too when I first heard the news. Then it hit me that I've seen a few of the reels on Facebook where he talked to university students.

I always respected him. Charlie Kirk as a human being and for the fact he pushed for civil discourse, opening the floor to allow opposing viewpoints to be proposed and debated in the ways of democracy. You didn't have to agree with him, didn't have to like what he said or who he was as a person, but the people celebrating his death and the theft of a father for his two children and a husband for his wife are abysmal wastes of human space.
