I've tried it but didn't care for it at all. The corned beef was very salty and the cabbage stinks and gave me heartburn.

Not the same thing.
I agree.
And for those who find it to be too salty, if you soak it in water in the refrigerator overnight before cooking, it will calm that saltiness down nicely.
And...the leftover corned beef is great sliced for sandwiches!
