It depends. I think it is weakness if you spend the majority of your time grieving. It is not good to wear your heart on your sleeve and to cry over any little thing.

However shedding tears when necessary is not weakness, it is human.

Have cried my eyes out many times, sometimes I didn't really know why. I don't think I'm weak because of it. And if others think I am, well they can go f*** themselves, I don't care what people think. We all cry, whether we admit it or not. It's human.

Neither.

It is a fairly natural response to a lot of things.

Doesn't have to mean anything.

This response is mine alone and I find crying a weakness. When I was younger I was bullied to the point another person might not have survived it. I knew if I cried the bullies would have won and have seen the weakness. I grew up knowing to cry was to put myself out there for more abuse. If I am down to the point I don't think I can get up, I don't cry, I get angry and that motivates me to keep going.

The only time I can remember crying was when my dad passed away. That day I lost not only my dad but my best friend. Friends come and go. My dad that taught me that nothing is beyond reach and nobody could hurt me but MYSELF. He also told me not to make myself a target. I took his advice and I'm a stronger person for not wearing my heart on my sleeve.

For members who do not share my view, I hope you do not take offense to this post.

Yes and no, crying is a good thing at times even though some might think It's not...

I cry and tear up, but I also do hold it in...

What times would you consider a good time for crying?

What makes you cry and tear up?

Sometimes something profound will trigger an 'inner cry'. But it has to be something really heavy and deep.

A short group of sentences I know that fit that bill come to mind.

Read the whole thing and tell me I'm wrong as you remember somebody that has found their rest at last.

Game Called.

Across the field of play

the dusk has come, the hour is late.

The fight is done and lost or won,

the player files out through the gate.

The tumult dies, the cheer is hushed,

the stands are bare, the park is still.

But through the night there shines the light,

home beyond the silent hill.

Game Called.

Where in the golden light

the bugle rolled the reveille.

The shadows creep where night falls deep,

and taps has called the end of play.

The game is done, the score is in,

the final cheer and jeer have passed.

But in the night, beyond the fight,

the player finds his rest at last.

Game Called.

Upon the field of life

the darkness gathers far and wide,

the dream is done, the score is spun

that stands forever in the guide.

Nor victory, nor yet defeat

is chalked against the players name.

But down the roll, the final scroll,

shows only how he played the game.

Same here, I bottle things up really bad, but then have to release it or I end up making myself ill.

Niether also. It doesn't matter if you cry. It means none of that stuff in my opinion.

I don't think crying is a weekness or strength. It is the situation you get when you are in a sad mood.

Its never a sign of a weakness. Its a sign of strength. The ability to overcome your self-pride and do something that people see Weak is a sign of strength.

It depends for me. Myself I only ever really cry when something very bad happens, or if I'm arguing with my mother. She seems to be the only person to make me cry with anger.
