So, apart from humans, which animals do you think are the most dangerous in the world? What about in your immediate local area?

Have you ever had an experience with a dangerous animal?

How about this little bite of trivia. (all puns at no extra chrge)

1. Mosquito

The mosquitoes is the most dangerous animal in Africa. I thought it weired that a mosquito would be considered an animal but according to Wordnet.Princeton.edu, an animal is defined as 'a living organism characterized by voluntary movement'. Mosquitoes are the carrier of the deadly virus that causes malaria, one of the world's deadliest disease.

Stunning Facts:
Malaria is responsible for nearly half of the deaths of children under the age of 5 years in Africa.
It kills more than 2,800 children a day in Africa and according to Third World Network Features direct and indirect costs of malaria amounted to US $800 million in 1987 and were expected to reach US $1.8 billion annually in Africa by 1995.
80 to 90% of malaria deaths occur in sub-Saharan Africa where 90% of the infected people live.
Other: Malaria kills 8,000 Brazilians yearly - more than AIDS and cholera combined!!

I think we've all had experiences with that deadly animal... :P
Scary to think that one bite from the wrong one could potentially kill you! :fright:

Something else to worry about the next time you go to the tropics.

I ran across a copperhead snake awhile back. It didn't seem to want to move, and all I had with me was a couple of fishing poles, so I backed up and went down a different path to the lake.

Yes a few times. I have coyotes that roam around on my property. I have a garage that is detached from my house. There is a side door in the garage that opens to the pathway to my backdoor. One night, I got off work, opened the side door, and there was a coyote standing on the pathway. It started growling and showing its teeth. I went back into the garage and got my handgun. When I looked out the window on the side door, the coyote was right there trying to figure out how to get it open. I opened one of the garage windows and shot off a warning shot. That scared the coyote and he/she took off running.

Another time, I went to get the mail. I have a very long driveway and just as I was about to reach into the mailbox, I heard growling from across the road. This time, there were two coyotes. They slowly started coming across the road. Since I always carry my handgun when going outside, I shot off a warning shot. Only one ran back into the woods. The other just stood there growling and showing me teeth. Shot off another warning shot and thank goodness that worked. The remaining coyote also took off into the woods.

I'm very grateful that the warning shots work. It would break my heart if I had to shoot a coyote. They belong here on my property and have a right to roam freely. All I ask is that they not come close to me or my house anymore.

One time when staying in a cabin up in Northern California a bear would sneak into our fridge and try to eat the food (the fridge was outside on the porch for some reason). We put bungee cords around the fridge and he couldn't get in. All we could hear was the door slamming shut over and over again.

Although its little scary to see a huge bear right outside the window.
