Do you suffer from depression?

How long have you been depressed?

How do you deal with your depression?

My mum suffered severe depression last year, from being let down by social services to what was going in my autistic brother's flat, as in the staff that "mistreated" him (i.e. not doing their job right, but those were new staff that he didn't even know). It lasted two months and I had to live with it but at least I helped her out and help her get over her condition. If it wasn't for me, she wouldn't be here :(

I've suffered bouts of depression myself especially during my time in school but they weren't as bad as what my mum got.

I'm not always depressed but I get depressed sometimes really badly, I just feel down or I miss people.

Do you suffer from depression?
Yes

How long have you been depressed?
Since school - 15 or 16 years old

How do you deal with your depression?
Really miserable music, Being alone - I don't like being around people seeing as people are the reason for my depression - well a certain person, Meditation/Spirituality, Alot of drink

I don't really 'deal' with it, I suffer with it, and I will continue to suffer until I am gone.

I dont know if I could be clinically diagnosed with depression or not, but sometimes I get into a funk that I can't ever seem to get out of.

Sad shoppers are getting sadder.

Findings from a new study show when we're feeling blue and socially isolated, we shop. Shopping, meanwhile, makes us even more depressed and alone. To fix it, we shop—and the vicious cycle continues.

But there's hope. It turns out there are three types of materialists in this world—and for one of them, shopping is a "virtuous" cycle that actually decreases loneliness over time.

...
After poring over the questionnaires and running the numbers through a series of formulas, the evidence showed that over time, and regardless of income, materialism was associated with an increase in loneliness, and loneliness was associated with an increase in materialism.

^ I'm not really a shopper so I can't comment. But if I do shop - online I it's doesn't really make me sad.
