Does anyone here suffer from diabetes and what type are you?

If you haven't got it does it run in your family?

My brother has it, I don't at the moment.

What is it like to live with diabetes?

My wife is.

The primary problem is that it makes EVERYTHING more complicated, and more serious, because your resistance and ability to recover is compromised.

For example. If I catch a cold, I'm miserable for maybe a day or so, and then it is history.

When she catches the same cold, you're looking at a week or more, and the last one turned into a sinus infection and required a trip to the walk in clinic.

If I get a cut, I wrap it in a paper towel until I can get to a bandage, and go about my business.

If she gets a cut, we have to watch it until it heals in case it gets infected.

And so on.

I don't have it and it doesn't run in the family. However, my step mom has it and she's had a lot of health issues. She's only in her 60s and she can barely walk without having pain.
