Discord is not a suitable replacement for forums

no Discord for me.
reminds me of the days before forums where you'd just log in to a chatroom, and wait ages for someone to reply

So what do you think? Do you think Discord is a sutiable replacement for forums or not?
I think they are two completely different things. Ones a forum and one's a chat room.
Discord is taking off unfortunately and in a huge way, forums have been affected greatly but I agree I’d sooner be in a forum community rather than a discord community.
Same here.

Yeah like in the early days of the internet and everyone was on AOL chat rooms. Its like were moving backwards in time.

Yeah, gonna admit I never got the appeal for Discord, Skype, etc. I use them because...everyone else did. I was fine with MSN messenger even but of course that died out. I also wondered why I posted this in debates and didn't see it.

Early days of the Internet was something! I do love forums more than chat rooms for sure though.

It really was, saying that though this forum definitely has a lot of life
Sure does, to my surprise. I didn't know what was going to happen when I knocked the dust off the place and reopened it. I was afraid nobody would show up.

Well you definitely did something right, I would definitely advise you to actively advertise though because I definitely think you have something here

Thats a good idea. Been trying to advertise more.

It's weird to say I grew up with forums, but I really did. I was active on them in my teens and loved (still do) them. Forums that were once extremely popular and THE place to be are now dead, or barely hanging on. It's sad to go back and look at them, especially when you see their staff trying so hard to keep the forum alive and failing.

With the way society has changed, forums are not sustainable. Today's youth prefer that instantaneous reaction. Being a heavily involved staff member on a couple Discords, I actually prefer Discord for modern needs. I staff for a couple Indie games and Discord is faster and arguably more convenient then forums.

Now, forums still have their place and use, but I don't see today's youth ever bringing back forums.

I agree with the above.
I personally love discord and for small groups it's great.
Don't get me wrong, the nostalgia of a forum gets me right in the feels but that's because i grew up with them.

Well there is billions of people over 30 in the world, lets get them on forums :D

I really don't get it.
I found discord super complicated with a lot of things at the same time that gets confusing.
I really tried a lot of times to use it. But I don't feel comfortable.
