Discord is not a suitable replacement for forums

I really don't get it.
I found discord super complicated with a lot of things at the same time that gets confusing.
I really tried a lot of times to use it. But I don't feel comfortable.

Discord can be a learning curve. I've been using it for a few years now and am staff on a few big servers, and every so often there are things I need to Google. Once you get the basics down, it is easy and fun.

yeah its not too user friendly.

Now, forums still have their place and use, but I don't see today's youth ever bringing back forums.
Yep, it won't ever happen. Today's youth would rather use Facebook and Twitter than forums. I personally don't really talk in many Discord servers but have been a moderator for some before. I even was a mod for the Fortnite Discord server for..uh..I forget. Stuff changed I cannot disclose.

Discord will never replace Fourms, in fact, DIscord was not even made like that when it first started, Group of people wanted a place for people to come together in one place to share and talk about gaming and use it as a way to game and talk to either other :) since DIscord was taken over it has changed and is not used from a gaming point of view and yet used for everything.

Discord killed Teamspeak I say LOL

Discord, forums, Reddit, Twitter, Facebook groups, Slack, WeChat, and so many other platforms available. wow.

I do think that businesses and video game developers should have their own forum where they control the domain, hosting, and content. That is invaluable.

Imagine putting your entire business on a third party platform!? Crazy.

Thats a good point. All of those other platforms are owned and operated by other people.

Sure does, to my surprise. I didn't know what was going to happen when I knocked the dust off the place and reopened it. I was afraid nobody would show up.

You took a leap of faith and it paid off. :)

Lol, can't wait until this time next year when everyone will be saying "remember when Discord had forums?". They're trying to be everything to everyone and that's when you fail. Forums have a purpose, Discord has a purpose. Leave each other's domains alone.
Yep, same. I know Guilded has features Discord charges for with their Nitro program. I actually may end up cancelling my sub but just have too many emojis I love using in my server and others. Also love the features. :(

DIscord has it's uses, it is a viable platform worth keeping around for those that use it, it's just...not for me :D.

Yeah, no not using.

I hated forums at first as well, it makes no sense on Discord. However, being a moderator in an Indie game's discord, forums are MUCH MORE tidier and cleaner for reporting bugs and other feedback. 100% better than the chaos of channels.

Exactly, yeah. I was a moderator of the official Fortnite Discord for a while. It was crazy at times, but it was neat to experience being a moderator of a big server. Still kinda sad things ended. I'd likely still be a mod there today! Also yeah, this will help for indie devs and everything with bug reporting/tracking and likely a better way to gather feedback/suggestions.

Forum channels are better for really specific questions that get drowned out by chat.
