To very over-simplify the situation. All the local companies are being gathered up into massive corporate hospital systems and the whole "serve the community" is very much lost. So with the mission changed, I decided it was time to pursue a better-paying job.

That has happened here.
"Corporate" everything. Most all of the independent health businesses have been scooped up into the "hive".

Sorry to hear that. Its scary to think one organization can take over everything.
