Do you have good neighbors?

Some areas and in some states you're lucky to find a house that ISN'T in an HOA. Almost all houses are HOA in those areas / states.

Where I am its usually just gated communities and condos / apartments.

Yeah, I absolutely hate that. HOAs are awful, they don't even help home values, or if they do it's a minimal amount that's negated by the COST of the HOA itself. So...STOP DOING THEM, PEOPLE!

Its especially bad if you own your house. If you're renting... sure, you signed a contract and agreed to follow a bunch of arbitrary rules, thats part of the deal so living in an HOA wouldn't be much different. When you buy a house, its yours and you should be able to do whatever you want with it. Not if you're living under an HOA.

Direct neighbors? Yes and no. I have a set of neighbors that just moved in and park their cars wherever they want, there's a neighbor who's 40 year old son does drug deals in front of my house, and then there's a neighbor who walks around with mental issues that happens to carry a gun on him. I Tend to stay inside lol.

Where I live now, we have some really good neighbors who keep to themselves and keep their spaces cleaned. I don't miss the bad neighbors I had when I was living out of apartments and rentals.

Some of them blast Spanish music until 11. One has dementia. Erm another parks their cars right accorss from where they can park. I don’t speak Spanish either, so I don’t bother them either.

My neighbors are very quiet, like me. The noise usually happens at the public park right next to us. Even though Texas noise laws should stop them from making lots of noise past 10pm, sometimes they're making loud noises at 1am....

Yes, my neighbours are pretty good. If you ask them for something, they will help you. I never had problems with any of them.

I have great neighbours! We hangout with one set of neighbours (we have BBQ's, fire nights etc. and on the other side we have neighbours that stick to themselves for the most part but is always very nice when I've spoken to him which has only been a handful of times.

Growing up we had HORRIBLE neighbours who would always cause issues and call the cops on us cause our fence was rattling too loud or some other random BS reason he would call. It got to the point where the cops told our neighbours that if they call again without an actual valid reason to call they would get charged for disturbing the peace and also wasting the cops time.

Thankfully now I have amazing neighbours and we've never had any issues with each other.
