I keep them different. I also started using different user names to prevent people from recognizing me, or to at least make it more difficult, in case I run into someone I know from elsewhere. That way I get to choose whether I want to disclose who I am or not.

Nope they are usually similar but hardly ever the same. The same thing with my username it changes on almost every site I join.
