Do you use open source analytics? Do you reduce the amount of 3rd party scripts and dependencies? I've been on some sites that might as well have been Meta with all of the Facebook stuff they had on it. Anything on Tapatalk is basically just spyware. lol

Several years ago I belonged to a forum that sold their mailing list to a direct marketer.

Instantly, the account I had used to register was full of spam.

Everybody flamed the admin of the forum and enough users quit that it eventually died.

That sounds quite terrible! Idk what would possess someone to do that.

A forum that I was on used ads based off of IP addresses. I never consented for my information to be used in such a way to be used like that.

I don't run ads, don't sell member information and I didn't install any of the add-ons to read personal messages. I do require to not use VPN as it makes it easier to keep out unwanted individuals.

Won't mention any names but....A member on here who has mental issues got very angry at one of her members. She actually posted the members IP address and e-mail openly in a post. A friend of mine reported her and she soon took it down. A month later she deleted her forum as members left in droves.

That sounds absolutely awful!

I value our members privacy, I would never do anything to break that trust with them. One time I had another admin asking me for a members IP and email addresses, I wouldn't give those up. Sorry, not sorry.
