The Duke boys are being put on the bench.

TV Land has pulled reruns of Dukes of Hazzard in light of the recent uproar over the Confederate flag, which is emblazoned on the roof of the show's iconic General Lee 1969 Dodge Charger, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.

The show has faced criticism over the depiction of the controversial flag in the wake of the June 17 shooting in Charleston, S.C., that left nine dead, and what many viewed as South Carolina's delayed decision to take the flag down.

The insanity of this nation has become staggering. Mentally ill transgender people who destroy there bodies is celebrated but a show that taught younger generations about being good, honest and stopping the bad guys because of a car that says the general lee on it is not acceptable.

I heard about this from a co worker today, I think it is a bit silly and this issue has simply gone way to far...

I'm of two minds here. On the one hand, this is stupid of TV Land to do....OTOH, it ain't the late 70's/early 80's; some things acceptable back then aren't so much nowadays. Besides, its' their channel; aren't they entitled to do with it as they wish?

how sad...

over a flag / symbol...

way to go americans, you've "won" again...

The sad thing is the show The Dukes of Hazzard showed more of a humanitarian values as expressed by the Duke family as they looked out after their fellow man in Hazzard County. If my memory serves there was an episode or two that did involve the Dukes helping out a black family. So this was a bad, bad move on TV land's part. The show had more defining characteristics of humanitarian values than some shows that are on TV today. God forbid a car on a TV show from the 70's-80's has a Confederate flag on it, and now its a hate symbol. Where were all these activists before? This country is becoming more divided than ever.

Does any of us actually watch this show on this channel? :P

But yeah, that is dumb thing to do. Everyone trying to be so politically correct all the time gets old.

Does this mean I will be arrested for wearing my "Daisy Duke" shorts?
