Falling asleep Tips?

I’d recommend staying off any electronics an hour or two prior to the time when you want to go to sleep and taking a warm shower after wards.

These two methods usually help me get a good night’s of rest.

Don't drink soda or anything with caffeine in it during the evening

For me, when I'm in bed, I don't immediately try and fall asleep. That never works, my mind is still very much active. So, I lay there for a little bit, letting my mind wander. Side note: if there is no other sound, laying in silence with your thoughts can also be detrimental, as the demons in your mind start roaming freely. If you're like me and experience that, think about something you enjoy. In my case, I write fanfictions for Star Wars, and will often think about what my next story might be, or what will happen next.

Okay, back to the main topic. As I said above, some people need to "wind down" mentally, and laying in silence can help. If you're still struggling, there are a couple other things you can try.

  • Turn on white noise. Some people get to sleep faster with some type of sound. My mom always turns on her smart-tv and has the sounds of rain going.
  • Clear your mind and force yourself to relax. Focus on your breathing, take slow, deep breathes, and as you breathe out, let your thoughts, worries, etc go with it.
