Off Topix: Embrace the Unexpected in Every Discussion
Off Topix is a well established general discussion forum that originally opened to the public way back in 2009! We provide a laid back atmosphere and our members are down to earth. We have a ton of content and fresh stuff is constantly being added. We cover all sorts of topics, so there's bound to be something inside to pique your interest. We welcome anyone and everyone to register & become a member of our awesome community.
Same here, if I see that yellow-ish notification bar up top, I'll click that first and see what's up. Then I'll head to the Today's Posts page and see what's new. ^^
I tend not to read the rules, which is what some people would expect. Most forums have relatively similar rules, anyway. I either 1) check and see how many active posts the forum has, or 2) once I've registered, I'll make an intro post.
I do that too. Plus making an introduction thread and (if there's an option available) an interview thread to be interrogated too.
I've been doing that since 2011, when I matured on forum-posting.
What is the first thing you do when you arrive on a forum?
What is the first thing you do as a brand new member?
What is the first thing you do on a forum you've been at for a while and are showing up for the first time of the day?
Q1 - Intro thread; introduce yourself to the board. Then set up your forum profile, sig & avatar.
Q2 - Start posting around the forum.
Q3 - Check for new posts/threads.
Even before I join a forum I lurk as an unregistered guest for a few days, read the rules and see what those with staff positions on the site appear to be like. Only when I feel comfortable with a site will I sign up. When I am signed up I change my settings to the way I like them then start posting. I'm highly unlikely to ever make an intro thread and I probably won't add a avatar or sig for a few days either. I'm weird when it comes to these things.
