What a :censored: disgrace....

Ivan Provorov, a defenseman for the Philadelphia Flyers, refused to wear an LGBT Pride jersey during the team’s Pride night game warm-ups tonight against the Anaheim Ducks.

Mind you, this wasn’t during a game, this was pregame during some warm-ups.

Regardless of his refusal to wear the team-sanctioned warm-up uniform, the Flyers allowed Provorov, who is from Russia, to play during the game. “I respect everybody’s choices,” Provorov said after the game. “My choice is to stay true to myself and my religion. That’s all I’m going to say.” He said his religion is Russian Orthodox.
You signed a contract, bucko; either honor the contract or get the hell off the ice.

Bullshit, he's a homophobe. I don't respect his choice to be an asshole. Fuck him.

^^ This. Very much this.

When I came out of the closet as an atheist. I became very proud of myself despite how badly my mother treated me over it. When I was forced to attend my mother's church, there was a lot of things that they were preaching about that was just unacceptable. You shouldn't hate someone because of their sexuality and you shouldn't hate someone who doesn't believe in the existence of your sky daddy. If it's one thing that I've learned from my many experiences, it is that religion teaches many people to be hateful and discriminating. It doesn't teach them morals or how to be a human being.

I'm glad you got the chance to be you, to be happy, and to see the beauty of life. I didn't like being forced to attend church, either, and I was glad to get away from it. I don't and will never have an issue with people who are religious, need religion or attend church, I applaud their ability to find solace in it, but it wasn't for me.

I'm leaving this right there. All Provorov cares about is his ego.

Said in the article he's from Russia so it didn't surprise me.
