What foreign sports would you like to try or play more often?

(sports that aren't commonly played in your country)

I've played Croquet a few times. I thought it was mildly entertaining.

I'm trying to think.... Uhhhh..... I don't think I have. Lots of the sports I've played seem to be English based.

I've tried to play baseball, failed miserably.

I try to watch nascar too, as i'm a big motorsport fan, but I just can't live with it, it's so boring. Formula 1 is much better.

Probably soccer, looks fun, but it'd be bad if you got kicked in the shin.

Soccer is not a foreign sport. Drive by any park around here on a Saurday and you will see people playing soccer. Most schools have a soccer team and there is outside organizations that you can join and play the sport.

Yes it is, it originates in England. Soccer isn't that big at all in comparison to other sports in America. You live in California, nothing surprises me. Come to Alabama, we have a soccer team at my school, but it's not even close to the football team in popularity or the number of players.

I think this topic is more about sports that arent popular in your country and arent easily accessable.

Yeah.. It is.

Otherwise you wouldnt have a team at your school. Soccer is bigger in different parts of the country than others.

Examples of sports that arent popular here are rugby and cricket.

That's the original question. Soccer is a foreign sport, and around here where I live, it's not popular. We have a soccer team, but most of the players on it are Spanish. That's in Alabama, but for California, I recall you saying that half the people who live there are Spanish or something, so no doubt it's going to be popular in that part of the county. However, as an entire county, Football, Basketball, Base Ball, and Hockey all exceed soccer in popularity.

Tractor pulls are popular in Alabama, not soccer.

The quotations says sports that aren't commonly played in your country

Its not the most popular but its easily accessible is commonly played (as in its played in schools in P.E. and in after school teams across the country).

There is also youth soccer organizations, you could probably find one locally here: http://www.usyouthsoccer.org/aboutus/FindaClub.asp

You would have no trouble playing the sport if you wanted so there is no debate.

Also we have a national team: http://www.ussoccer.com/

That cant be said about other sports like I mentioned above (rugby and cricket).

Also you are probably referring to Mexicans. They speak Spanish but they aren't Spanish.

I fully recommend that you try cricket, it's a very boring sport to watch, but on a hot day with a cool drink nearby, it's a very relaxing and fun game to play

Never played cricket, rounders though.

I still can't think of ant forgein sport. I'm just going to give up now

It's not a debate, leave it alone. Soccer is a foreign sport, however, I haven't been across the entire county, so I'll leave it at this, in Alabama, it's not popular or commonly played.

Well its turned into a debate because you are saying something that is incorrect.

Soccer is a foreign sport. His definition of foreign, sports that aren't commonly played in your country, is to help people out, but it's not the actual definition.

The real definition for foreign is as follows: (courtesy of Webster dictionary)

1 : situated outside a place or country; especially : situated outside one's own country

Yes but by putting that in parenthesis, he was meaning sports that aren't easily accessable / commonly played. You have easy access to that sport and could join a team if you wanted.
