Have you ever met a forum member (online) that you had dated or have a relationship with?

Must say that after 15 months of being involved in a LDR (long distance realtionship) with a guy I met through a forum, it didn't work out for me. Did I just say 15 months of my life wasted? Yes, you read that right. He always had an excuse as to why it was not the right time for us to meet in person. Was he married or have a girlfriend? The answer to those questions is no. So why did I allow this to go on for 15 months would be my next question to anyone reading this. The only answer I can give you is that I had hope that he would just come clean with me after so much time as to why we couldn't meet. He finally did by telliing me that he was gay (which I have no problem with if you're upfront about it.) He finally told me that his family wouldn't accept this and was hoping he could change. For crap sake...he led me on for 15 months (shame on me) for believing every day of those 15 months that he and I might have a future together.

yes......we've been together over 3 years now

I remember you talking about that awhile back. Seriously messed up!

Heh.. Anywho. While I've been in LDR's thanks to Yahoo Messenger and their chat rooms. I never really got with anyone through a forum. At least until now. And I have to say, I'm glad I did. Been a very wonderful experience so far. One I hope will last a long while to come.

No I try to keep personal relationships into my real life. I don't see the point of having a relationship on a forum, but hearing about people having them on forums is wonderful

Same here. I don't think I'd ever risk starting a relationship with someone on a forum, no matter how well we got along online.

I have never dated another forum member. Just wondering if you have ever met another forum member IRL.

I have but it didn't work out, turned out she was MARRIED, like one of the posts above, she always had an excuse as to why we couldn't meet.....turned out she was married......led me on for about 3 years.......Would I do the whole forum-dating again? I don't know, it'd be really hard because I really cared for my ex but yeah....i'm not so sure if I'd do the forum-dating thing again....who knows.....

Cant say that I have ever met anyone from a forum or tried to start a relationship with anyone on a forum. It just doesnt seem practical. Unless of course I met someone on a forum that lived my area..

Thus far, I have only met one person that I met online in person. We met in a chat room almost five years ago and on the first night we talked for thirteen hours straight. About three months later, he came out to visit me and went to my senior prom, and then that summer I went to visit him and then he came back with me. Four years later, I married him.

There was another friend I thought I would be meeting up with, but then we had a falling out, so that didn't happen. Online relationships can go either way, but in the end you have to be extremely careful either way.

I think that's probably the only way I'd consider dating someone on a forum is if they llived in my immediate community and I knew them from somewhere in real life.
