:blah: What frustrates you the most about forums?

Post whatever is bothering you about a forum (or forums in general) today. :)

When you are the only one on in the forums when you sign in. I hate going to forums that have like 100's of members, but I'm the only one on.

What frustrates me most is when I see a lot of members online. They're not posting. They're busy chatting back and forth in the shoutbox. The forum has no new topics for a few days either. I would think some of the staff that's chatting surely could stop long enough to post new topics. I'm not saying it's up to the staff only to create topics but it makes me, as a member, think they're waiting for the rest of us to do it.

That happens a lot here, we seem to have a group on in the morning (morning in my time zone anyway) and the rest of the day there can be a couple members on here and there. Everyday can be different though, that just seems to be the general pattern.

What frustrates me about some NEW forums, is they try to advertise their forum with zero posts in almost all their categories, Ive seen it several times. Who would want to join a forum with no topics and nothing to reply to?

My biggest frustration is probably when I join a forum that looks active, try to post around some, and it turns out that the place is as dead as a rock.

Probably second place is when I register to a new forum, say hi, and then it turns our that my signature has 3 more words than what is allowed by the site rules, and I get a formal warning for something very minor.

You're not alone. Same here bro - Californian here. It's like... majority get on during a particular timezone and then they're off, eventually you come along and then after replying to a bunch of threads  ... you feel like you've bombed the board :bye: where as you're gonna' have to wait a few hours until the next crowd comes back .

When I used to be a member at Forum Promotion I would notice a lot of times there was only me on the forum and that has quite a few members.

It seems these days Facebook and Twitter are taking over things.

My frustration is when people ask why they're banned when they know why they are.

You know, it seems to be that everyone's frustration is basically the activity on forums. Well, to be honest I have seen more activity on this forum than I have on a lot of other ones, even the big promotion forums.

That's annoying. It's sad to see forums with millions of posts only have a few active members.

I dont mind if a forum happens to be busy when I am not around and quiet when I login. As long as there is topics to reply to, I'm happy. I'll reply to a bunch of stuff and maybe post a couple threads.. I know that forums aren't real-time chat rooms, they are message boards. Where you leave a message on a board and check back later.

Yep, I see that alot too, Have joined a few in the past that interest me and the owner just ends up closing it a month later. I only join bigger active forums these days.

.... And! I can't stand folks that post just to get there post count up. I used to know someone who spammed they're way to 500 posts in order to get into the VIP section of a forum, Didn't work like that. 500 posts was the entry level BUT they had to go through admin approval.
