You found $500,000 in the forest in a bag. You're alone and no one sees you; what are you going to do with the money?

Hmm... first thing I'd do is buy a really good, ridiculously overpriced gaming PC. :P

Do you want me to say I'd do the right thing and turn it in to the authorities? :blah:

NO, Mine! :P

I'd just take it home, hopefully its in a duffel bag or I have something to put it in. I'd spend little bits at a time as to not raise suspicion.

I would probably bring it to the police. I'm a pussy :P
And hoping for a good reward ofc...

Your reward is knowing you did the right thing.

That's worth something :P

I'm not sure if I can live with the fact that I have that kind of money that doesn't belong to me. There's a difference between $50 and $500,000.

I would wait at least wait 2 months to spend anything because maybe the money is stolen from some good organisation or something, then I would bring it back. If not then I would start donating money to charities. This way at least I didn't keep the money for my own selfish reasons.

I got lots of selfish reason to use that money :evillaugh:

:P

I might have to look for another forum. You all may have a bad influence on me...

Gonna assume that the money is .. tainted. :P

Gonna find a nice bush to hide behind .. wait to see who comes for it (because obviously it's been stashed) .. Follow them where eva they go.. get their address ..supply all the info to the cops ..let them check things out. :order:

Then I just sit back, relax, and wait. :relax:

Chances are that there is already a huge reward out for the recovery of the money .. and also a huge reward out for giving the tip to the cops, which leads to the arrest and conviction of the offender responsible.

Legit all the way baby! :P

Don't go anywhere just yet Jasper! .. :halo:

Well sadly I live in the United Kingdom so I wouldn't be able to spend it, or even put it into my bank. So, I'd exchange it into £292,628.69 Great British Pounds and then put it into the bank and let all of the interest build up and continue to live my life normally...Actually, I'd take a bit out to make an insanely fast and aesthetically pleasing PC.

Stash it in my mattress and spend wisely. If the person the money actually belongs to couldn't keep better track of that much money, they deserve to have it taken from them.

by what moral standard do you arrive at that conclusion?

my reasoning is similar to khalessi's, but in my world, snitches are bitches who deserve stitches and are often found floating face down in ditches. i would be inclined to snatch it and find out where it was stolen from and go for the reward.

if it turns out that it's black market profits that were expropriated on the way to the laundromat, i'm not sure what i would do, probably what jazzy would do. certainly not turn it over to the police.

Take it & spend it in the Off Topix shop :happydance:

I'd turn it in, when it went unclaimed, I'd get it & have a clear conscience.

I wouldn't want anything to do with it for several reasons.

1. I know it's not mine and it would be theft to take that which isn't mine. Just because it appears to be lost doesn't make it so and could have been stashed by someone for a likely good reason. Also the lack of people to bring to light your act does not make it right nor does it get you out of it.

2. No one is likely to carry a large amount of cash except someone looking to avoid banks and with it a trail to find them and is probably into drugs and other crime who will not be pleased to see you take what is theirs. I doubt that would end well for you.

3. Returning the money brings attention to you and if the money was owned by criminals then they will find you. Spending said money will also bring attention to you as people start asking questions and those looking for their now stolen money start picking up on your story and eventually you.

4. Great wealth never did anyone any favors. Sure it may look like it at first but great wealth has a tendency to ruin the people who come into it regardless if the reason for getting the wealth was legit or not. I have enough already to get by and am in no need for more. Why would I let something into my life that could and would likely destroy it?

I don't think I could get away with keeping it. After all, money is identifiable and someone's bound to be looking for an amount that large. Now that might not be a problem if I could spend it normally, but since I have to get it exchanged first and these places tend to have cameras...

So, I suppose the only course of action is reporting it to the police and hoping there's some sort of reward :(
