Nebulous said:In my past experience, any time I register at a forum using a free domain, it is usually closed down within a few weeks/months. Ones that have purchased a domain tend to last. It shows me that they have some dedication to their forum.
As far as websites, if its a page with some information, I could care less what the domain is.
Griffin said:tbh, if people are serious about their forum, they would be willing to spend money on it, forums which use free-domains don't normally succeed, it shows dedication to your forum, and not that you just want to have a forum and put it up in a few minutes.
TayneC8 said:Also free domains (like .co.cc) can go down quite often, but I have never seen a forum with a free domain last longer than a year to be honest.
BreakGuy said:If one is new to forums and learning how they work and how to administrate one, then I don't mind if they use a free domain. But if it's someone who knows what they're doing and want to have a successful forum, then they should get a paid domain name.

Why Should you?
Only reason is if you want to pay money and maybe Make money with ads, etc.
Or maybe do some different Custom things to your forums.
But, Otherwise, I just can't see it.
Griffin said:You obviously haven't been to any serious web-master forums, everyone says you need a domain before you start, people don't trust or want to deal with sites that can't even get a paid domain for their site. You NEED a domain if you want to look professional.
